The car was correctly impounded.
It was not on MID.
You could not prove at the roadside that you were insured.
There was, quite simply, nothing but your word that it was insured.
So the car was impounded until you could prove you were insured.
Now you can provide proof, you can reclaim it. But, yes, it's going to cost you the impound fees.
Perhaps you can persuade the insurer to cover those fees - it was their error. But you did not mitigate your losses by checking the paperwork upon receipt.
How much is their goodwill gesture of a discount on your premium, compared to the costs?0 -
Around 100 pound more I'm now busy trying too at least get something towards the cost as it wasn't my fault but yes yr right I should have checked but didn't think I'd have too with it just being a renewed insurance....I'll not be not checking againAdrianC said:The car was correctly impounded.

If they seized your vehicle you'd have been given a TOR or fixed penalty. An HORT1 or producer is given when there's some doubt about insurance, if there's doubt they cannot seize the vehicle.icebaby145 said:

So are you being done for no insurance? If not you already had a policy, your story is full of holes.icebaby145 said:
Because there saying it's my fault clearly not as I was renewing it and there's no such car on the reg they had put in so surely it should have flagged up on there sysyemDB1904 said:
Why have you taken out temporary insurance if you already had a policy and does it allow you to bail your car out?icebaby145 said:Can someone help I was pulled over for no insurance and argued blind I had they took my car as I couldn't prove it on the spot I got in touch with insurance which had put a wrong didget on my insurance however I got a producer too take insurance in too get my car back however the producer has also put wrong registration number number in and it's exactly the same as the insurance company!! So it would have been covered on that registration where do I stand on getting car back I now have temporary insurance till it's all corrected and police still have car0
