  • Because it is time barred after 14 days.  They can't send one now if one has not been sent.  Completely up to you.

Not sure I want too open up a can of worms if not needed lol. If I haven’t been sent it, why should I prompt them for it ? But, I do understand what you mean though by it possibly being lost in the post.

You won't be opening a can of worms. If no NIP has been sent to you by now it is too late to send one and you cannot be convicted of speeding. However, accompanying the NIP would be a "Section 172" request to provide the driver's details. What you can be convicted of, it that was sent and did not arrive, is "Failing to provided driver's details" as there is no time limit to serve that request on you. The next thing you will hear on that matter (assuming it does not get lost as well) will be in the form of a "Single Justice Procedure Notice" informing you of court action against you for that charge. By then it will be too late to make any enquiries or to do anything other than to let justice to take its course. There is a recognised method of having this reverted to the speeding offence (provided you were the driver, but not so simple if you were not). But it is aggravation which would normally involve a court visit to do a deal with the prosecutor. I suppose it depends on how confident you are that you were snapped but you can avoid this possibility with a phone call. Your choice.

The only non-emergency contact number for the police is 101.
