manufacturer or dealership - who to contact?

  • I have actually test driven the 1 litre ...

My local dealer don't have that colour in the metal or that engine (any colour) either.

1.6 CRDi 48V ISG mhev " whatever all that means but Kia also mention iMt which I read means it's manual but no clutch but I have to confirm whether that's the case on this particular car or not.
Is it a Sportage you are looking for?

They are not that rare that you should not be able to find one sufficiently close to you to arrange a test drive - with the engine choice you are looking for.

Alternatively, I understand that AC do a service on the used car to take it to a local branch for you to test drive.  They do charge though, and you don't get the transport fee refunded if you decide not to buy.  You could always call and ask if that is available.

With the current shortage of used cars, you may have to be willing to compromise on specification somewhere.  If colour is critical to you, what would you be willing to "flex" on?

The car was manufactured in 2 different shade of silver I have seen the shade I do not want advertised as the shade I do want due to dealer getting it wrong ...
Blimey, I thought we were talking about an actual colour, not just a shade of default identikit lease silver...

Assuming you are looking at Sportages, a quick look on Kia's configurator finds two silvers - "Silver Frost" or "Lunar Silver". But the clue is that they're not available on the same spec of cars. Just looking at MHEVs, SF is only on 2 or 3 spec, LS (darker) is on GT-Line.

Now, that's for current orders... Older cars may differ, of course, but the MHEV iST seems to be a fairly new powertrain.
It's the Kia ceed if that keeps clarify things.
I sound really fussy but I'm actually not lol basically I want the gt line in silver not lunar silver but actual silver.
Looking at Kia website it comes in various options 1.0 1.4 1.5 & 1.6
If I were buying from new on the website my "build" preferences would be:
    Gt-line
    Silver
    1.4 petrol manual

But due to price I'm not going to do that instead I hope to pick up something that's up to 2 years old for cheaper with this in mind I probably won't get the desired spec I'm after 100%
I don't mind which engine size it is as long as over 1.0L whether it's petrol or diesel isn't really a deal breaker. I had no idea this hybrid version existed however it has come up for sale and is ticking all the other boxes hence trying to find out more about what it actually means to determine whether I can adjust to it or not

Hopefully that makes sense. I do appreciate all the help btw

If you are buying a nearly new car, it is always worth checking with online brokers that you cannot get the brand new car for the same (or very close) price.

Sometimes finance is cheaper for brand new than cash, but you can pay the finance off once the incentives have been secured, so avoid the interest charges.

The car of the OP's choice is around £24 - 25k list price.

Kia have a finance offer on PCP, £2.5k deposit contribution.  The finance rate is 4.9%.  BUT, (and I am not sure whether you would be cash buyer if you wanted to) you can take the finance on the PCP scheme, benefit from the £2.5k contribution from Kia, and then pay back the finance early so avoiding the interest charges.  This is regularly suggested on the forum.

So, online brokers, the Dealers offer the best price they can below the list price and that is the "cash price" you are offered.  If you then take the finance, that Kia contribution is additional to the discount on the "cash price".

One thing to bear in mind is that the lead time on a brand new car will, obviously, be longer than the used car which is in stock.  However, if you are taking a brand new car that is dealer stock (often where the best deals are), that difference reduces.  If you are looking at a very specific brand new car factory build, it will take a lot longer in the current circumstances.

If you configure a car on a site such as CarWow, then the site will provide the details of the most competitive offers for cash and finance (PCP) purchase.  I have never purchased through CarWow, but have used a different broker in the past.

As I understand it, CarWow will typically give you around five dealer quotes and you can choose the one you like best.  "Best" may not be cheapest if there is a benefit in a more local dealer and small change in price.

Once you pick the Dealer with the offer you like, CarWow will link you to the Dealer and you can speak with them to ask any questions - they tend to have a "call now" information on the site, or ask the dealer to call you.  You still might get a factory order car through a service like CarWow, so there can be a lead time.

Often, they give you cash price plus finance PCP price and the PCP can include an incentive so is cheaper.  In that case, remember that PCP is nothing more than a loan and once the process has started and the incentive secured, then the loan can be paid off and the finance charges / interest avoided.  It is no different to having a bank loan.  You need to check the PCP terms to see if there is a minimum period that the loan has to stay "live" so that the incentive is not sacrificed, but usually this is not the case (or is very short).  You do need to get the car first though.

It is frightening how you can get a brand new car sometimes for pretty much the same price as a nearly-new car, assuming you can wait for the brand new car to be delivered.
