Question on import duty from Netherlands

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has any experience of/ can help me. I am wanting to purchase a piece of art from a gallery in Holland for my own use (not to resell) however I am unsure of what duty fees will be payable when the item ships to me in the uk. I have been told conflicting figures of between 5 and 20% of the value of the goods. I have logged a query with the government however I have been told it can take a few weeks to get an answer and by this point the item will have likely sold. Any help/ guidance much appreciated. Thanks in advance/ apologies if posted in wrong section. Admin please delete if not appropriate.
