Thanks and Happy New Year to you both :)

I got the job, they want me to start Monday if possible which is good news. After the last one I am a little weary of celebrating too early, but I'm hopeful this one works out. It's four days a week (Wednesday off) which might work quite well to give me a break midweek.
I also had my second MRI scan this week which went better than the first (had it done somewhere different and the technicians doing it were really nice and listened when I explained what happened previously). Hopefully the results will be back by the end of the week but there are delays due to staff absence at present.
Otherwise, I'm doing my best to make less waste (made banana bread today from some sorry looking fruits) and I've also turned  a couple of wrinkly plums into two mini crumbles to have after supper with a scoop of ice cream.

Hi Toonie - congrats on the job and the mri. Hope you get the results soon. On the bananas - I've deliberately left some to over ripen as I really fancy making banana bread. Could do with more eggs though. Only got 4 so I'm having to ration my plans.

I had a box of 12 eggs so definitely had enough. I also cooked gammon yesterday for supper (in the slow cooker) and I made soup with some of the ham stock (with barley, carrots, and swede). When I have some today I'll add in some ham scraps too as I'm going to slice up the rest of the meat (some in going in the freezer, some for lunches today and tomorrow).

Well my week certainly hasn't gone to plan. I did an LFT as we were due to visit FIL and it came up positive (DPs was not positive). Booked in a PCR for the following day (and booked DP in as it was a drive through place and he was driving) and they both came back positive so we've been isolating. Managed to book in a sainsbury shop to be delivered today but it's messed up my budget as we were planning on a stock up shop at Aldi. Spent just over £50 which will keep us going but makes my eyes water price wise as it seems most things have gone up by at least 20p an item (which were already better value in Aldi).
I've got mild symptoms, as has DP, but we both have different ones and not the classic three. So much for the new job starting. They've been very understanding, but I've also had to tell them they are close contacts of mine due to the interview. I'll let them know as soon as a test clear.

Sorry things aren't going to plan. Sounds really disappointing. We've just had c19 here too but with a DC but they've recovered now. I didn't get it. Hope you recover quickly.

Thanks @savingholmes At the moment it just feels like one knock after another. To try and cheer myself a little I ordered some lamb for today's supper. It's a rare treat and I'll try to make up the cost of it through the rest of the month by baking for breakfasts and making store cupboard soups for weekend lunches. I bought half a shoulder (smaller than I expected though) and I'm using some rosemary from the garden (it's the only herb still going strong outside at this time of year), along with leftover vegetables from the 19p bags at Christmas should make for a lovely slow roasted supper. I'm hoping there will be enough meat left for a Shepherds Pie, if not I'll knock up some pastry and make lamb pasties.

It's been a while since I've had some lamb... Sounds gorgeous.

The lamb was lovely and used to it's very last bit.
It's been a quiet week here, I'm still testing positive so still isolating, though DP is clear of it and can leave the house. Technically I can leave isolation tomorrow as my 10 days will  be up. In truth, I'll probably stay indoors this weekend too and recuperate a bit more and then the new job on Monday. I had thought to try and use this time to look at budgets for the year ahead, but my head has been too fuzzy so I've mostly been watching TV, drawing, and reading.
Leftover cottage pie for supper tonight with gravy and veg. I'll take a look through the freezer too and figure out when we need to go shopping next.
