Kitchen cupboards / doors ... what to do about foil wrapped board looking worn?

Options
Hi, need some advice please.

We want to invest in a new kitchen, partly because the foil wrapped board used for the carcasses is looking worn and grubby at the edges (see below). My concern is that new cabinets will also likely be some sort of foil wrapped board and then we'll just have the same problem in a few years. I guess solid wood is an alternative but we don't really want a wood look... we'd just like white.

Any suggestions?

  • .... should make it clear, the doors are fine - it's the internal carcasses and shelves, and various deco pieces that are the problem
  • Still made the same way, you could go ply but that would be really expensive!
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

Avoid this design like plague - it's a botch. So is the vinyl flooring around the panel and the silicone.

Units must have proper legs screwed to the bottom and easily removable plinth clipped to the legs. How to adjust unit legs and attach plinth - DIY Kitchens - Advice

Plinths, if woden, must have plastic sealing trims at the bottom.

Any flooring must  go under the plinth that, IMO, has to be in front and on the sides. End panels have to cover the sides and not reach the floor,

but if they reach the floor, use the same sealing strip as for the plinth.
