Good morning, it is already warm and sunny, it will be nice to have some sunshine.
I've got a hair appointment this morning and then I'm meeting a friend in the park for a coffee. We thought we would make the most of the weather and stay outside rather than sit inside at our usual cafe. It will keep me out of the way of the workmen who are doing the kitchen.
I want to have a look in the supermarket on the way home and see if I can find something different for dinner.
Have a good day everyone.13 -
Good morning all. Just made a sponge cake for friends coming round. Hopefully can sit in garden as mist burning off ready for a gorgeous day down here in Kent.

Morning all.
I'm back from my weekend away and doing a load of washing to hang out as it's nice and sunny outside.
I also thought this thread was becoming quiet so it's lovely to see others joining in - welcome!
Today I need to do some catching up so ironing, food shopping and a bit of baking will be the order of the day. I only have a few days at home as off to Swanage Folk Festival on Friday; an annual trip which is always great fun.
DH is taking antibiotics and isn't feeling great at the moment. He's not particularly hungry so I've decided I'll start reducing what I eat from today, seeing as I'd like to lose at least a stone before DD's wedding in a year's time. I know what to do to lose weight but I just can't seem to do it for very long
I've been on the scales first thing, which is a good start!
Wishing everyone a lovely day and good weather where you are.13 -

Hi everyone and welcome to all the newbies and re-joiners,
Steve and I ended up in separate beds last night which doesn't often happen. I had a coughing fit (reflux related) and he decided to decamp. I think we probably both slept better for it because we weren't disturbing each other. These colds have been really something.
I was terribly lazy last night after we cancelled our Sunday lunch out, we went out and got ready made potatoes and veg and some pork fillet and had that for dinner. It was good but not as good as mine would have been so we won't be doing that very often. We'll probably have something with pasta for dinner tonight.
We've no plans for today, it's supposed to be cloudy but warm so we'll take Ziggy for a walk maybe in Wharfedale (my favourite dale).
Have a good day.13 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. So good to see so many old faces posting yesterday, please keep up if you can, this thread has been a support to so many of us through hard times.
It looks like being a hot one today, I have taken my 'nasty pill' so will be feeling carp for the next couple of days. Laundry in the washer, will put it on the line today, last week was so awful I stuck it in the dryer.
Cleaner here this morning, sitting room and kitchen are ok, so is the bathroom, but the bedrooms look as of a bomb has hit. I am clearing out stuff to go to the charity shop, some of it will go to the new centre which has opened in the town for homeless people. DB was storing 6 pairs of shoes he no longer wears and also a pair of boots he has worn just twice. I have had 2 pairs of expensive Clarkes shoes on our local pages, no interest so they will go too, its a shame I have only worn them twice as well.
I was very disappointed with last nights lamb, it was very fatty, I like some fat, but that was just a bit too far, also it took ages to cook, I had to use foil as I had run out of raosting bags, the meat tray was yuk.......even though I lined it with foil as well.
Sun is creeping out so hopefully its going to be a good day, hope its not too hot. I have to apply myself to the plant pots and yank out the overblown lobelia and take the cuttings from the geraniums and fuchsias. Now DB has a greenhouse I am hoping I will be able to save a bit of cash taking cuttings.
Supper tonight will be the best bits I can cut off the meat, I also want to put up a dinner for my neighbour across the road. Her son has now gone home, she has carers coming in 3 times a day. Her daughter is coming from Spain in a couple of weeks to be here whilst her son goes away on holiday. We will be away too for a few days at the same time.10 -
Morning everyone it's a bit grey and gloomy here in the NW so hoping it will brighten up as I have to go out for meds, shopping and other random things. Your garden looks lovely Csarina the arch is lovely and it's good to see DB out enjoying his favourite space.Warm wishes to the poorlies and the worried. Look after yourself Sue as others have said it takes time to get to a new normal but as I told you a while back it will be a normal that includes memories of the good times. I hope those who were free with their opinions have buttoned their lips. If they're still putting their tuppensworth in perhaps it's time to write your "Things not to say to the bereaved " book.! Write on a sheet of A4,get your feelings out and burn it. It's strangly comforting to do that. I've done it wirth hapless consultants and others. It deals with pent up anger , hurt or frustration rather than dwelling on things. Meanwhile remember the good times they will sustain you as you find your new way.I was making a shopping list earlier and suddenly remembered Speky the young man who used to post every day. He was often first post of the day on his way into work.. I'm now wondering if he ever posts. He spoke of many things and was realy getting into Old Style ways.. Every time the poor lad mentioned he had a date with somone new the talk would turn to "Do I need to buy a hat?" I'm wondering if you all frightened him off!Time to shift or I'll meet myself coming back. Take care all.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.10 -
Good morning everyone and welcome to all the new posters

Today looks like being another bright and sunny day. I have loads of towels to wash so will try and get them out on the line today and they should dry really well. I am going to clean the kitchen today, well as much as I can do, and then I am going to mess it up by baking a cake and cooking dinner
.
Lilly got in touch last night to say she has not been well and is desperate for a hug and a roast dinner. She is hopefully coming over tomorrow so I can feed her up a bit and give her all the hugs she wants. I miss her so much so it will be so lovely to see her again.
Lee stayed awake for 48 hours but is now finally asleep. I intend to leave him in bed for as long as possible so hopefully he will be rested and more with it when he eventually emerges. He seemed quite chirpy last night but he had been drinking an awful lot of coffee.
Right, I have to stir my stumps or I will just sit on my fat bum all day. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx13 -
Good morning all. Wow, I didn't read yesterday, so when I saw how many posts I thought something bad had happened so I'm very happy to see that wasn't so, but pleased to see a mix of some familiar names, lurkers and new posters, welcome. I've not been posting every day over the summer, must try harder!Yesterday was a quiet day really, after going to the smallish music festival on Saturday I think we were both a bit tired, it was lovely to meet up with 3 friends we haven't seen since March 2020. We did go up to the retail park after lunch for a few bits but weren't out long, then DH & DS1 were working outside on a van project, converting it to a day van, it's looking good.Tea was delayed to fit around them, we had pork fillet in honey and garlic sauce, diced roast spuds and carrots which were getting a bit bendy, but tasted fine- then apple crumble to finish.I am hoping to get out a bit more as I now have a shiny new bus pass, one of the few perks of advancing years. It should save me a few pounds a week as I no longer drive.Dumpling, hope Lee can get help.Dp1, your holiday sounds lovely.Snoozer, glad your cold is improving so you can enjoy the rest of your stay.Right, better get on and do something useful! Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)14
