O/S Daily Monday 6 September 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry and forecast is for warm weather.
DH up and getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy. DS1 still in his pit, he has some hols from work.
Lunch yesterday was roast loin of pork, it was a nice small joint, some LO's so that will make another meal.
Back to Monday mayhem no doubt!
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
It's rained overnight, much needed for the garden. Still a bit drizzly this morning but incredibly mild.
No washing to do today, yesterdays dried well on the line and I even did the ironing to keep on top of things.
My trip to Ikea was good, I got what I went for (and a bit more) and enjoyed the browse. Hoping I can get the furniture to our families somehow today, they may have to wait until I finish.
Hope everyone's well, have a happy Monday. Take care. XX12 -
Morning folks, thanks for starting us off nmlc. What a delight to see so many posters yesterday. 🌺My attempts to trawl through the three old portable hard drives yesterday were frustrated as one connected and then didn't do anything, and one needed to be formatted (which means wiping everything from it), only one gave up it's riches. I realised that they date from 2010 so it's not surprising that they're mostly shot. Today I'll clear out all the stuff from the 'good' one onto a new drive. That's the problem with technology, it does become out of date very quickly. The forecasted heavy rain didn't arrive here, only a light drizzle in the early evening, in fact the sun was out for most of the day. I watched The Railway Children again, such a sad / happy ending.Today there's thick sea fog outside which may stop the gardener from coming, I'll wait to be surprised. I'll spend some time filling the newly empty drawers. No shopping and no deliveries due. 😀
My thoughts to everyone, happy Monday to all.13 -
morn morning al thank you for the welcome .
I’ve been reading so long I feel I know you all .
cut all my grass yesterday ,went for a walk with some friends ( they have one good knee between the two of them and I have a dodgy hip so we’re not fast !)
This afternoon I am playing Pétanque with my U3A group .
TA I remember you time with Bob ,my DH had a particularly nasty progressive neurodegenerative disease that took all movement and speech but left his intellect unimpaired .
Had a strong talk with myself yesterday and made a proper meal13 -
Morning!
Back to work today after 12 days off, but in the spare room so no commuteI do need to get out of bed soon though!
I managed to give some of the shrubs in the back garden a good tidy-up yesterday, and will take the rubbish to the local tip this evening, I've someone picking up some paint I sold on FB so will go after she's been.
I'm at the breast clinic later today too, with what are most likely to be cysts that need checking out. I seem to be there more often since coming of HRT 🤔2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all,
Posting while I am coming too having just woken up. Got the little fan going as warm already. As today is going to be hot I have plans to do washing so it can dry outside. Also, I am planning on doing about 10 minutes weeding in the front garden, if my joints allow it. I am hoping that a regular daily 10 minutes will keep on top of the flower beds. Afterwards, I have some online garden vouchers to spend from my birthday, so I am going to treat us to some winter flowering plants and spring bulbs.
Csarina, the photo of your garden was lovely.
This morning I will pop in and visit my dad to see how he is doing , plus bag up and put out his rubbish. Mum may be back from rehab later this week but we haven’t heard definitely, although we will need some notice to arrange the carers etc.Later, I expect DH will be watching the Solheim Cup, I will probably listen to my Thrush Green audio book while crocheting.
Thinking of you all, especially those who are struggling at the moment.
Take care all.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Fingers crossed today isn't too manic at work.
GERS I love The Railway Children. It always brings back such memories of my childhood. I travelled on the line every Sunday morning with my dad when he paid his weekly visit to his uncle. My BF's DH (when he was a spotty teenager!) was introduced to Jenny Agutter during the filming and has loved her ever since!
Well it might be warm but the cloud is back with us again! I have put off sorting the front garden out for long enough and it's now a wilderness. I really must try and sort it out. But that's easier said than done with legs that object to bending over. I have promised myself today is the day to at least make a start on it.
The roast beef I unearthed for yesterday's lunch will now be today's lunch. As DGD was with me at short notice we had more child friendly pizza and fries as there wasn't enough beef for two!
Have a good day folks whatever you are up to and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. And another welcome to the newbies. DP1 welcome back you sound to have had a lovely holiday. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Just discovered these lovely threads!
Retired and moved during lockdown last year, just getting used to it all - love gardening but most find more things to do as I feel better when I am active (yesterday did lots of pruning and washed two cars)13 -
Good morning, such a lovely surprise to see all the posts when I popped in last night.
Very grey here this morning, we are situated in the middle of Uttoxeter race course, there is a meeting on Wednesday which will be a first for me.
Fabulous time yesterday evening a goodly flock of Swallows was flying all around us feeding, some came only inches from our heads, they were then joined by Starlings, we felt so blessed to be in the right place at the right time.
Due to be very hot again today, intend to have a mooch around Uttoxeter (I can see a very pointy church spire out of my window so will investigate that) and then on to an EH ruined abbey for a look and perhaps a picnic, not sure it has any loos though so may not be able to stay too long - the problems of advancing age LOL.
Hugs and spoons to any that would like some, have a good day.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)13 -
Really enjoyed the lunch party yesterday. Everyone very helpful and I was waited on for food and drink. Weather was gorgeous so all outside. My old nursing friend is visiting today so out to a local cafe. I could get used to this!
picked cooking apples yesterday, the tree is in really poor condition but a bumper crop this year. Will have a look at recipes later.12 -
Morning everyone
Just having breakfast then I'm going down to nursery to get some jobs done and a chat with my boss about any new guidelines we have for the new term.
Then I have a Tesco delivery this afternoon - little one was not impressed with my empty fridge on Saturday - 'Where is your grapes granny? Where is your little tomatoes?' etc
I was planning on cutting the grass this afternoon and having a general tidy outside but there's been heavy rain during the night so it's soaking.
Well I'm going to get sorted - hope everyone has a good day11
