New car leaking oil

Sorry can't write all the nuances of the situation on here but my Mum doesn't know it's leaking oil (she has high anxiety so I didn't tell her yet) and I know she only drives it on certain days.
I'm going to be the one dealing with this but I live quite a distance away and can't take it in until next week.
I'm calling today but have experience of companies 'forgetting' things that were said on the phone. I just wanted some info and advise BEFORE speaking to them as it's no good after the fact.0 -
A few years ago, I took a BMW in for its first oil change. The following day I noticed oil on the garage floor and oil stains flowing back towards the rear of the car. I checked that there was sufficient oil in the engine and I drove the car back to the garage that serviced my car. The fault was nothing more than a crimped replacement seal on the drain plug. They replaced the seal; topped up the oil and cleaned the underneath of the car. No drama.0

I've got it booked in for next week. It won't be driven until then and will check oil beforehand. They have offered me a courtesy car for £20 so I can get home.0

IIMU that the clock stops ticking as soon as the seller is notified of the issue. What is an issue for the STRTR is that by allowing the seller to effect a repair then you may be waiving the STRTR; however you'd still have the final right to reject if the repair didn't resolve the issue (or another issue arose within the first 6 months).Grumpy_chap said:

It is not even clear that the OP has notified the supplying Dealer, as per this comment earlier today:WatercoolNorth said:Should I be calling them or emailing? People always say have stuff in writing.
The OP also needs to be aware that not every fault will give rise to STRTR in any case, but it would be foolish to allow the time to elapse.
