I'm another one who reads every day but doesn't post. I used to post regularly until one of the forum changes and I couldn't log in again. By the time I had set up another account I suppose I had just got out of the habit.
Unfortunately I'm struggling to be very MSE at the moment as I am having a new kitchen fitted and seem to be spending a fortune on quick easy food that can go in the microwave. It should be finished by the end of next week and it will be good to get back to normal.
Next week I am going to try and spend some time going through my old recipes and working out what I need to buy to replenish the food stocks I ran down in preparation for the new kitchen. I have to confess to finding quite a few things in the kitchen cupboards that were years out of date, so I took the opportunity for a good clear out. I really want to make sure that I only restock with things that will get used.
I will try and start posting again even if it isn't every day.10 -
Another lurker who doesn’t post
this thread is always my first read every morning, sorry
I’m struggling a bit after the death of my DH in April and never think I have anything interesting to say
I will try11 -
How lovely to see so many lurkers posting - thanks so much. This daily thread has been such a support to so many people, not least me during the final few weeks of my DM's life, just reading along really helped. Most days my mutterings are dull too, day to day stuff can be mundane, especially if retired and also during lockdown.Despite my hope for not going out today I had to go into town for a 9 volt battery to replace the one in my kitchen heat alarm, the chirping from the old one was driving me mad. My neighbour up the hill was coming down to change it for me - then it turns out to be one that can't be changed so it was redundant. Anyway, he's taken the unit off the wall and I've ordered a new one. In Scotland the law about fire / heat alarms requires interlinked ones from February 2022 so I've also ordered a set of those though delivery isn't until early November.I've watched last weeks Vera just now, it's always a pleasure to see old familiar places. Today Newcastle Civic Centre was doubling up for a courthouse, my previous place backed onto it so that brought back memories. There's Carillon bells on the tower which used to play Bobby Shafto on high days and holy days.SuffolkSue - so sorry to read about your DH, so many of us here have lost some beloved one and received help. Please all continue to post, they help.10

@Gers I love watching Vera and also Inspector George Gently, purely to play spot the locations! I spent many holidays in the NE as a child as my parents were from Birtley & Newcastle so there were always visits to Durham, the coast right up to Lindisfarne and Newcastle with an annual trip to Toney's ice-cream parlour on Grainger Street where mum & dad did their courting 😁2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Well hello everybody!! I turn my back and come back to find lots of new posters. Lurkers as well as erstwhile posters from time gone by! (Waves to POLLY !! Nice to see you again!) SUFFOLK SUE it will be 3 years next month since I lost my lovely DH and believe me I know just how you are feeling. Life will never be the same again but it does get marginally easier to cope. That doesn't mean you forget, as I think of my Bob every day, and some days are harder to bear than others, but on the whole you do start to live a new sort of normal. My thoughts are with you.
Today didn't go to plan! Phone call from DD after my earlier post asking if I was free to have youngest DGD. She had to take middle DGD for her first day at Renaissance Arts in Leeds, eldest DGD was doing an afternoon shift at her summer job, and DD's lovely chap who was in charge was summoned into work! She's no bother these days and spent some time crafting, then after lunch we watched Mamma Mia, Here We Go Again, for about the 500th time!! DD's chap has just picked her up again.
DUMPLING my thoughts are with you with your worries over Lee. We never stop worrying about our children no matter what their age do we.
Right, I am now off to address my skunk look. The grey (ok white!) roots are growing with a vengeance and a colour is much needed. I might be an old **** but it doesn't mean I have to look like one!
Have a nice evening one and all and a big welcome to all the newbies. Stick with us as we'd hate to lose our friendly Daily thread. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -

Evening everyone
I've just been having a nice catch up while I ate my tea. Not at all money saving - a M and S lasagne I got at Newcastle station yesterday along with some milk and a prawn sandwich for my train ride home.
I had a lovely time visiting eldest DD - Nuremberg is such a lovely city - it was lovely to see where she lives and her apartment. We also went to Munich for the day - where I had the biggest pork schnitzel ever. Also to a town called Bamberg - which was beautiful. We also had lots of lovely walks and lots of lovely meals and ice cream!
It was a bit of a faff getting everything checked at Frankfurt airport yesterday morning and I spent 2 hours in the 3 biggest queues but I was home by about 2pm Back to lots of lovely cuddles from little one who has driven youngest DD mad asking 'will my granny ever come back?'
The cats arrived home from the cattery about 7pm, so all back to normal here. I was down at mam and dads this morning and have got all my washing dry and ironed, so I'm feeling quite pleased with myself! And the suitcase is empty and ready to go back in the cupboard - I'm not usually so organised but I'm back to work on Wednesday.
I'm going down in the morning to get a few jobs done without children there! We have several new littlies starting this week so it will be busy - hopefully no one will be too upset at leaving their mummies. Little one is going to come to us just one day a week as well as her regular nursery, as DD wants her to come to the school that we're part of. She has been there with me a couple of times before, when DD was ill - we'll see how she feels at sharing her granny!
So that's my news. Eldest DD had another week's holiday so she's now in Italy - Rome first for a couple of days, then she's going to Naples and Sorrento. She gets about a bit!
Camelot - it's lovely what your school is doing for the Afghan children - it's so hard for us to imagine what they've been through.
Hoping everyone has a good weekend. I'm guilty too of not posting every day - like others I sometimes feel I haven't got much interesting to say , but I will try.9 -
