Question about "power"

f1 engines last longer than that

I once had a Mégane but with a mere 90 brake horsepower available, progress was too leisurely to be called fast. But on a motorway, in fifth gear, the Mégane's slow pace really became a pain. Uphill runs became power-sappingly mundane, while overtaking National Express coaches could become a long, drawn-out affair.

I have a 90bhp 3.3t, 2.6m tall hightop van, a 60bhp 4x4, a 75bhp 7-seater 4x4, and a 30bhp car.0 -
Would a turbo diesel suit you driving profile? Loads of low/ mid rev torque and good fuel economy.0

Over-simplifying it but power is generally a marker of how fast a car will go, and torque is how quickly it can change speed to get there.
Numbers on a screen are largely pointless for getting an idea of a car’s performance, unless they’re big e.g. 450bhp + 500lb feet of torque, but will give you a basis for comparison.1 -
The reference I made will be far too obscure for you AdiAdrianC said:

I thought it was a reference to something else too! Although it did remind me of the difficulties I had overtaking National Express coaches in my old Nissan Bluebird. But then it's hard to get by when the bus is the size of a small country.lemondrops69 said:

And the fact that National express coaches don't hang around, I know my dad used to drive those type of coaches.Ditzy_Mitzy said:
