looking at a flat to buy - really liked the flat, first floor (of three, purpose built block about 40 years old) - I think they originally boilers + tank in an internal cupboard, now it has this rather dominating combi boiler and its piping.
Any ideas what we could do ?
the thoughts we have had are:
- put the tank back and have immersion heater, change the wet radiator for panel heaters
- floorstanding combi tucked round the corner ? gas ? electric
not sure what is practical - any thoughts?

Although the cost difference between gas and electricity is likely to be reduced in coming years, gas is likely to remain significantly more affordable for some time to come. Unless money is no object, can you not box it in if you don't want to see it?0

I think from the estate agents comments it that most people had wondered if they could box it in, problem is that it is fairly close to units and might make it tricky to open doors . I was quite surprised how dominating it is.
agree we might just be a bit too early for an electric combi / electric panel heaters.0 -
Could you box it in with a sliding panel ?
Like sliding wardrobe doors but fitted vertically.1 -
Call me strange if you want (you wouldn't be the first) but I'd be tempted to strip the paint from the copper(?) pipes, polish and lacquer them and call it a feature(Might need some extra pressure/temperature gauges and maybe a nice brass cover for the actual boiler ...)N. Or paint each pipe a different colour matched to the tiles behind1

@QrizB @coffeehound I like these ideas
also seriously pondering on going back to boxing it in, earlier this morning floorstanding boiler was the only answer but amazing what a couple of cups of tea can do to the brain.2
