This is true, but you could always just put a quote out for someone to help you lift/carry stuff on TaskRabbit or something similar, they can help you load the van then you’re free to drive to where you need to be.Kazzam1984 said:
Thanks , we are in a first floor flat , so i am put off by diy. As i don't know how we would get washing machine/ fridge freezer/ sofa downstairs etcAFF8879 said:dimbo61 said:Hire a large van with tail lift and DIY ?This is what I did with the help of my brother and dad, I would highly recommend. Things like beds, wardrobes etc aren’t as daunting to carry as you expect, especially once you have pulled them apart.
Obviously full removals service will be easier but something to maybe have as a backup plan0 -
I'm the same in a first floor flat, no exchange or completion date yet but I've made the decision to diy. I've managed to rope some friends in to helping. Luckily I don't have much stuff, the worst thing is going to be the sofa and sofa bed. Luckily all white goods here are with the rental so I don't have to move. Might be worth looking at getting some straps online to help with the fridge freezer and washing machine. When I had an american fridge freezer delivered before (not here thankfully!) they had some special straps to help move it.Kazzam1984 said:

We had this problem in Jan. We had no choice but to book with a deposit before Xmas and then pay the full amount before exchange. It was mental. The only plus we had was that our FTB wasn't moving in straight away and the house we were buying was empty, so as the only party having to move at completion we picked the date to suit us. It was ridiculously stressful.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

I might have this issue also
I dont want to book anything until I have exchanged.
I currently renting so need to give em 30 days notice to leave as tenancy ends December. Plus need to book movers and furniture like bed and mattress and sofa.
Im hoping exchange happens middle of this month if my 2nd valuation goes better. Issue is want to try to meet September 30th stamp duty so if exchange and completion is less then a week apart I may have issues.0
