hey
If a reference says "resignation during disciplinary proceedings"
what impact could this have on a job offer 3/4 years later?
thanks

As much or as little impact as the potential new employer chooses!pearson27 said:hey

There is no definitive answer to this. Some will read that as "guilty as charged so resigned rather than be sacked" whereas others may be more understanding.
If there are lots of well qualified applicants then the easy answer is to choose somebody with less "baggage". If there are fewer applicants and / or you are especially well qualified then it may be far less of an issue.
If you work in a regulated occupation (I assume you don't) it could make it very hard indeed to gat another job in that field.0 -
well i have been given a start date so can only assume they are ok with it or they havent checked it yet?
wasnt guilty as such as i moved straight into a new job so both ran in parallel
will they ask me or my previous employer what the issue was?

I don't think the time difference is any different to if it was 2 months ago or 2 years ago. It's still the same.
The impact it will have will depend company to company. We can't answer that.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....1 -
But two other employers have not seen it as an issue during this time so could be ok?0

So maybe a third will too - or maybe they won't.pearson27 said:But two other employers have not seen it as an issue during this time so could be ok?
Sorry but nobody can answer this with any certainty. The potential employer can ask anybody they please pretty much whatever they like. Many won't respond (at least not formally) but in some fields the grape vine never fails!1 -
Do you know for a fact this information is being disclosed?

It's on a basic reference0

If you have had two employers since then just don't use them as a referee?0
