One of the IFAs I saw a few weeks back said they work closely with this companyeValue have a range of tools available to IFAs (and other financial companies). They are one of a number of companies that do that sort of thing.
I use a few of the eValue tools in key areas (not directly but via third parties that use some of the EV APIs) but, like most software/research companies, I don't think they are comprehensive enough in all areas to solely rely on them and I find you need to mix and match with other software/data providers. However, in the areas I use their data, I am very impressed with them.
I'm not really sure any IFA works closely with EV. IFA firms will buy some of their APIs or third parties that use the EV APIs. It would be like saying I work closely with Microsoft as I use MS Word for letter writing.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. Their website mentions that they are "an independent limited company" but the name of the company (usually something ending with Ltd or Plc) is neither at the bottom of each page nor on the "about us" page nor on the "contact us" page. This should ring lots of alarm bells. As they are not a regulated company but a software company, they don't have to comply with financial regulations. And consumers do not work with them.
My advice is to avoid dealing with anyone working anonymously in the financial services sector.

Every UK company does however have to comply with UK company law, which requires you to display your company name, number and registered address. This information is not displayed on the ev.uk website either in the website footer, the Contact page or the About page as is standard. The limited company name is displayed on pages like "Privacy Policy" but not the company number. The only place the legally required information seems to be displayed is in a terms and conditions pop-up that appears when you go to one of the login pages. Unless you did a "site:" Google search you would have extreme difficulty finding it. It might as well be in a locked filing cabinet behind a sign saying "Beware of the Leopard".So Maxsteam is correct to say there is a red flag. They may be just in compliance with UK company law thanks to the T&C pop-up but only just. And Evalue may be legit but a red flag is a red flag.It may be a pedantic technical violation but the rules are there for a reason. If good chaps ignore disclosure rules on the grounds they're good chaps, they become pointless.2

If, as happened for the OP, someone namedropped this company, that would also make me hesitant about dealing with that person. It's quite possible that the namedropping was simply used, like many acronyms, to try to make the namedropper appear cleverer or better-connected than the namedroppee but that is enough for me to want to avoid dealing with that person.0 -

As regards EValue Ltd, I had not heard of them until recently, I am happy to manage without most advisory firms and the idea that is being portrayed, that they are the silent force behind everything we do, sounds like hot air. Their 2018 accounts show a turnover of £8m. It's a small company and their statement that they "partner with some of the UK's largest financial institutions" is wishful thinking when they cannot even produce a proper website. I have no intention of dealing with an organisation like them deliberately and I would be very surprised if I have dealt with them by accident.0 -

In which case you better stop using Trustnet and FE and most of the platforms use FE for the data feed for unit pricing.
