NatWest is closing my account in 60 days

I am a college student IT level 3, it's not a business and it was only a small amount of $9.99 from a web hosting provider to host my personal website and some projects for programming that require web space and not basic html.GTR_King said:The main reasons a bank will close your account within 60 days is for example
Using it as business account or not used it in ages.
So what was digital service web hosting for? a business? how much did they refund you? if so that's why your account is being closed as you broke their T&C'sDavid38473 said:NatWest is closing my current account in 60 days the letter is dated 23rd of August, an appeal was rejected but a merchant refunded me that I purchased a digital service web hosting in the united states on that date? Would have a card refund triggered the account closure? No physical bank transfer have been made on this account.

As explained above the web hosting purchased was for personal use as in my own personal site and to be used for education as well as college work not everything can be done on a desktop lamp installation.GTR_King said:
well if that web service hosting was for a business then yes you certainly broke their T&C'sYes, I don't believe I have breached T&C on the account,
Should I contact NatWest and explain this?0 -
ooh well maybe that's why NatWest are closing your account down as you bought something in dollars and looks like a business to them, If you can prove that to them that you legitimately bought it they might reconsider you account closure0
-
It's already been pointed out that as the web service purchase was the same day as the date on the closure letter, these are unlikely to be related. The letter will have been triggered by something well before that date.0

he got a refund the same day as the letter but bought the web service hosting before that date so that's why I said that might be the issue0

Sorry for confusing the web hosting service was purchased on the 20th of August and refunded on the 23rd the exact date on the 60 days notice letter.Zanderman said:It's already been pointed out that as the web service purchase was the same day as the date on the closure letter, these are unlikely to be related. I have submitted an appeal / complaint but Halifax switch will be completed in 7 days time.GTR_King said:ooh well maybe that's why NatWest are closing your account down as you bought something in dollars and looks like a business to them, If you can prove that to them that you legitimately bought it they might reconsider you account closure0 -
good better check CIFA'S for fraud makers to be on the safe side just in case0

Halifax took a few days to open the account would they have not run this check themselves before even opening the account?GTR_King said:good better check CIFA'S for fraud makers to be on the safe side just in case
I have sent a request to CIFAS as well.
My understanding is per NatWest if a CIFAS marker was present they would instantly close the account the 60 days it has given is a comerical decision to close the account.0 -
Shame you lost out on the Nationwide switch bonus.David38473 said:
Yes, I am aware of this I applied to Halifax, and got an account the switch will be completed on the 08/09/2021.colsten said:Banks can close accounts in line with their T&Cs. They don't have to give you a reason. Just like you can close your account without giving them a reason.
If you are quick, and if Nationwide accept your application, you can switch for £100 or even £125 . There is a long thread about the Nationwide switch offer on this board.
Just had a text from Halifax to confirm this by the Halifax switching team.
Unless NatWest have actually blocked your account, you won't need to do anything. The CASS switch will move everything and closes your account (as I am sure you know).David38473 said:
Does the balance from NatWest get moved over by the switching system or will NatWest require me to fill out the fund form it sent in the post to transfer funds to another bank?
If NatWest has blocked your account, the switch won't be going ahead.0
