Hi guys

Wanting some advice

I have a ccj pending for 7 September however I'm currently going through an employment screening for a new job

I may or may not need to be verified financially as it depends what I might do for the company going forward

The terms of the role states that I could lose my employment I fail to pass these steps

I have zero chance of avoiding this ccj which is causing me a lot of shame and embarrassment, however if I agree to gradually pay this amount what are my chances of passing any checks?

I basically feel like I need to turn down this employment so any advice would be great

Thanks!

  • Nobody can say what your chances are except your potential employer.

As the CCJ is apparently unavoidable there's no harm in asking.

Is this the court date ?

Can you provide any background to this at all, what type of debt is it, why are you so certain you will lose, have you submitted a defence, has the other party provided proof of your liability ?

It's a credit card debt so haven't got a leg to stand on.

Have you made a CCA request, and a CPR request, have they complied ?

No, but it would put off potential court action until the documentation is found (which it may well be.)

Bear in mind that financial checks such as these are likely to be looking at things like defaults too, so having a CCJ might be neither here nor there as you'll likely have a default from the debt.  Have they actually asked you if you have any outstanding debts?  Very often they ask people upfront about their finances as the checks are frequently less about your finances and more about being honest and trustworthy.
  • I've been upfront and it may not be a condition of employment now i have been honest, i just may not be placed with financial clients

how would i pursue a CCA request, and a CPR request

Debt Camel covers the subject here -
