Incorrect meters?

Are you reporting the gas meter kWh reading and not the m3 figure? (Assuming it’s metric and not cubic feet)0

Hi, on the gas meter it says meter index on the top line. On the bottom line it says 02202.670m3 When I do meter reading I ignore the first 0 and then report the number before the full stop so today would be 2202. Hope I have been doing it right0

Electricity showing as 6490 kw and gas 2202kw.Gas should be 2202 cubic metres? In 37 days since 25/07 you've used 166kWh of electricity and 13 cubic metres (around 145kWh) of gas.I don't know what your tariff is but that's roughly £35 of energy plus £10 of standing charge.N. This is from my latest energy bill for electricity (top one) and gas bottom one. My tariff is Avro super and super prime. This bill was £27.50 including standing charge.

That all looks OK. If you're a smallish household in a smallish home, I wouldn't worry too much.Do however be aware that you're on a 12-month fixed rate at a unit price that you can't get close to today. Gas prices could go up by 40% and electricity by 20% at the end of your deal.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. There is only me in a 3 bed semi build 5 years ago, but the insulation is incredibly thick in the loft. I have done a comparison as I am looking to move tariffs and the cheapest 1 year fixed I have found with Sainsburys Energy will be £521, which is just over a 25% increase. I am tempted to fix for 2 years with Sainsburys Energy as the kwh prices are the same, just the standing charges work out to be an extra £50 per year for the 2 year fixed but I am thinking it is worth plumping for the 2 year fixed0

6490 kW etc is a consumption not a reading. It's quite possible that this is the consumption from the day the meters were put in but presumably they predate yousec79 said:Just checked my meters. Electricity showing as 6490 kw and gas 2202kw. It is a 3 bed semi built in 2015 and lots of insulation so I had previously put this down as one of the reasons why I have low usage. The serial numbers on my meters match to the ones on my latest bill. I'm not comfortable with messing around with the meters, I'm afraid.
What is the reading (on the meter itself not the In House Display toy) - it will be in kWh on the elec meter - do you mean it is reading 06490.0 ? The gas does not read in kWh but m3 - does the meter say - 02202.0 m3.
What were the readings you gave when you moved in ?
Edit - be particularly careful with modern meters - look for the decimal point, if the meter has a small keypad press 9Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
I assume that you are aware that Sainsburys Energy is a ‘white label’/trading name of E.on. Next. Your contract, supply and CS services will be with E.oN.Next.sec79 said:There is only me in a 3 bed semi build 5 years ago, but the insulation is incredibly thick in the loft. You’re fine. Your previous post read like you were reading and submitting kWh from the meter when in fact you were reading m3 as you should.sec79 said:Hi, on the gas meter it says meter index on the top line.
