Depends what I’m washing. Mostly I use the “cottons” or the “easy care” settings. I also use a laundry cleanser alongside detergent, and occasionally I use a washing machine cleaning product to clean out the machine itself.

TBH I’ve never really paid much attention to what is economical. I also use the tumble dryer 90% of the time rather than hanging it out. Not very MSE, I know 🤣
I actually never looked at the manual properly myself, I just saw mixed load 40c and picked that one😂 I didn't know until now the manual gives details of how much electricity and water each programme uses.

Easy care 40C, 1 hour 37 mins on the majority of washes.  I've started using Wash Warrior tablets for the occasional high temperature clean as I was getting gunge coming out on clothing which this seems to have cured. I've also swapped to Smol fabric conditioner which leaves much less of a mess in the drawer.

I'm going to have to now get out the booklet to see what this famous easy care wash is, as it seems popular.

I have read that longer washes on most washing machines are more economical but it doesn't seem to be the case for the Bosch.
The longer washes are designed to match shorter washes at higher temperatures and therefore save money.
Its likely the shorter, cooler washes are cheaper and if they're cleaning properly there's no reason not to use them. Does the Bosch manual give energy and water use for each setting?

Thanks fot that, Yes the manual does give out energy and water use, seems the Intensive wash cost more in water and electricity than the mixed load wash.

Another one here for 40 degree mixed load 95% of the time, no smell issues so far.

3rd one round to the right on our machine. Doesn't require reference to the booklet, it's marked on the machine

What I meant was how much electricity and water it uses against the other wash cycles 👍

I use cotton wash on my Bosch, press the speed button to take if from 2 and a half hours to 1h09m, and press go. I use it for everything. I am a man though, and I think the OH is more discerning. No issues with smells though. I think it's on 40oC and 1200 spin.

I tend to stick everything in the 1hour Mixed Load 40 most of the time. Not noticed any issues.
Us too - I think it's actually the only programme we've ever used and we've had ours about five years with no problems.

I occasionally have a stinky armpit problem with my clothes (must attract a certain bacteria) which isn't the machine's fault. and use white vinegar in place of fabric conditioner when that happens. It does mean our machine occasionally gets a bit of a clean-through with vinegar.
