Is track & trace over?

Options
My partner was at work on Tuesday and one of his work colleagues had to go home due to becoming ill with Covid. He got his test results that same day. That colleague is fully vaccinated but my partner has only had the first vaccine (the second is next week). When we looked up the government advice, it said he should self-isolate for 10 days, get a test on days 2 and 8 and track &trace would be in contact. He still hasn’t heard anything. No one has got in contact. Is the advice I found out of date perhaps? Do they not trace close contacts anymore? His boss wouldn’t allow any of them to take off work because of this. He also can’t get tests done.

The most likely explanation is that nobody told Track & Trace that they were a contact.

If the boss doesn't want anyone taking time off for work for tests, I imagine they'd rather they didn't self-isolate either.

He could get a test if he wanted it but whether the result would mean anything is another matter.

TNT is still going but it relies on the positive person engaging with it (some people don’t) and listing your husband as a contact. It also depends how close the infected person was to your husband and for how long.

Was your partner with 2 metres of his colleague for 15 minutes.?

If he’s worried he should get a test.

  • My Daughter was contacted by track and trace on Wednesday this week, more than half of her colleagues have tested positive recently. She does not fit in the guidelines of having to self isolate but was advised to take a PCR test.
As someone else said, your name was unlikely to have been provided for track and trace purposes

Ripply - all you’ve said is they were a colleague.
they need to be within 2 meters for 15 mins to be a close contact.
    were they?
People in offices should be avoiding this if at all possible.

@sheramber @lisyloo Yes, he was sitting beside him all morning in the work meeting. It lasted until lunchtime. This colleague wasn’t feeling well for a few days before that but it wasn’t the typical Covid symptoms on the NHS site, so he didn’t realise.

My partner tried to get a test on Thursday but he’s not eligible because he doesn’t have Covid symptoms and track & trace haven’t contacted him.

Why does he want a test if they say he’s not eligible for one? He can do the lateral flow tests daily if he wants.

If he really wants a PCR test just book one saying that someone told him to get one. It’s a meaningless test in this context but if he wants one then why not?

He’d like to know if he’s infected so he can avoid putting others at risk.

But a test won’t tell him that. He could become infected the next day.

Like I said if he really wants one just fill in the booking form as I suggested or he can do daily lateral flow tests.
