Any good apps to call usa free from uk?

Hi there,

I had a mobile phone app called talkatone which enabled me to make free calls to landlines in US from uk, worked ok, but has now stopped working with an error, I have reinstalled but probably they have blacklisted my email or phone no because of inactivity or I didnt buy a sub.
Just wondering if you know of any other apps that would do the same ie call free from uk mobile to us landline, has to be to us landline as its an eldery person there.

You might try clearing the application data on that app, then logging in again. This sometimes sorts things out.

Otherwise, if you look at that one in the relevant app store, it will probably show similar choices.

I used to use Hangouts, but Google seems to have cancelled the US number I had on there, even though I did as they suggested when they said it was at risk due to lack of use. Now the Google Voice app seems to have taken over from Hangouts. You would need another US number to help set up an account, and Google might reject temporary ones from other apps.

You could try Google Voice. It offers free calls to USA numbers and the personal version looks to be free.

You will need to also use a VPN in order to fool Google into thinking you are located in the USA, as the personal version only works in the US. Proton VPN is free and works very well, it has three free locations, one of which is the USA. I use Proton VPN and it is a solid performer.

I’ve not used Google Voice, but it looks worth a try.

you can use freecallworldwide they have free calls to UK mobile, india and USA im sure is included.
