Mr Google says:
What is Glucosamine Sulphate?

Glucosamine is a combination of a protein and a sugar and is substance that occurs naturally in the connective tissues and cartilage joints. Most, if not all, scientific studies with glucosamine refer to the formulation of glucosamine sulphate and when sold as a dietary supplement this is usually combined with Chondroitin Sulphate. Chondroitin is found in and around the cartilage cells and it has been suggested that this supplement may help repair some of the damaged joint.

Osteoarthritis is not yet fully understood but it is thought to be the destruction of cartilage, possibly due to loss of collagen and proteoglycans. It has been suggested that glucosamine helps regenerate damaged cartilage as glucosamine is needed to make proteins (proteoglycans), which are the building blocks of cartilage. Along with collagen (a fibrous protein that makes up the connective tissue), these proteins provide the strength and support of the joint. Glucosamine also pulls water into the cartilage (to maintain the 70% water content of cartliage) producing a gel like sac providing cushioning and flexibility in the joint. Therefore, in essence supplementation is thought to magnify the bodies natural level of glucosamine.

The supplements sold are execrated from animal tissue with glucosamine taken from crab, lobster or shrimp shells, although it can also be chemically synthesized. It is typically sold as oral tablets or capsules with the most common commercial compounds being glucosamine sulphate, N-actyl-glucosamine and glucosamine hydrochloride. Chondroitin sulphate is extracted from animal cartilage such as tracheas or shark cartilage.

Glucosamine has been shown to be effective for some joint pain and so is actually a prescribable product.Glucosamine: a review of its use in the management of osteoarthritis.

If you find it's effective then do ask your doctor if you can have it on presciption as for those with free or annual prescriptions it may be cheaper to get it from the NHS.

If you do have to pay for your Glucosamine then you may find ZIPVIT cheaper at £12.95 for 360 tablets of 1500mg which is the recommended effective dose.
Simplysupplements can also be pretty cheap if you are doing a large order.

But certainly go for the free trial first to see if they work for you.

You can also get vegetarian Glutamine Sulphate from zipvit.

• Glucosamine basically provides your body with the chemical building blocks it requires to make cartilage. It is therefore very helpfull in sports injuries and osteo arthritis, where the cartilage has been damaged.

In arthritis (osteo and rheumatoid) there is also an autoimmune element, i.e. the body is attacking its' own joints and destroying the cartilage. In these cases it is worth taking CMO (Cerasomal-cis9-cetylmyristoleate) which seems to stop this self destructive process. Once the joint destruction has been stopped, the glucosamine will have a much greater effect, and more lasting relief will usually be obtained.

The CMO Company ( https://www.cmo.inuk.com ) on 0800 197 1197 offer a free information pack, and offer a money back guarantee on their CMO, allowing you to try the product and if does not help your arthritis they will refund your money in full.

Concludes by saying Neither ginger nor cetyl myristoleate has proven clinical usefulness.1 Bottle of CMO+ 60 capsules) £79 I think I would like to see a scientific peer reviewed research paper confirming that this formulation had any benefits before investing that amount of money.
At least with the Glucosamine there is scientific support for the use.

Edit: There is a difference between a free trial where the product is supplied and the user is under no obligation to purchase more items and the money back offer described here where you pay upfront (more than the usual price) and are obliged to claim it back if not satisfied. If the CMO company were prepared to offer a genuine free trial offer, with no money upfront, then it would be an equivalent offer.

I take Glucosamine for my knees, have taken up running this year and my knees started clicking. Take a one a day capsule everyother day and it's sorted me out. I've heard good reviews for this for those who suffer with joint problems.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:
