An update to the Coronavirus ‘traffic light’ travel system, used to govern the action holidaymakers take when they return to the UK from overseas, is due this week.

Any predictions for Green, Amber or Red?0

How about getting rid of testing completely for fully vaccinated people returning from Green Countries and probably Amber as well ?
No one else in Europe subjects their Citizens to this nonsense so why should we have to put up with it ?2 -

Many of us believe pre return testing will be in place for another 12 months, I would like to be proved wrong but....0
-
5/1 - Bangladesh and Pakistan; moved from Red to Amber (vote winner in certain marginal seats and counters the issue when India taken off the Red list last time around.)
6/1 - Turkey; moves from Red to Amber (whilst good apparent vaccination levels and tracking, perhaps more a political move than 'following the science' plus a bone to throw the leisure travel industry for the last two months of the holiday season)
10/1 - Netherlands; from Amber to Green (to annoy the French)
12/1 - A couple of random additions to Green to countries no one really travels to or are out of season like Andorra or small lumps of rock in the south Pacific ocean. Helpful to expand the green list to show the Government is listening....
15/1 - Might need help in Tajikistan over coming months so lets turn that from Amber to Green.
20/1 - Portugal; from Amber to Green

Do those repatriated from Afghanistan then get charged for 10 days quarantine ?
It is on the red list.0 -
How will they pay when they have left with only the minimum of possessions? The banks in Afghanistan are closed and nobody is able to get any money.
Quarantine will be provided the same way that accommodation, clothing etc will be provided to all refugees who come to UK,
Aid agencies and the government are helping them.1 -
Those being “repatriated” aren’t refugees and I doubt many will have been placing much of their money in Afghani banks.0

Hey guys, we now have confirmation of the countries moving to the list and remaining in the same place. Click here for more info: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2021/08/coronavirus--traffic-light--travel-update-due-this-week---what-t/

The only aspect of these announcements that are relevant to most people are countries going on/off the red list. Orange and green are basically the same to most people.
I agree with the poster above who said we need to stop this nonsense. We currently require two tests to be taken on entry from green/orange countries. At least reduce the requirement to one.
Also what is the plan ? Are we to keep these two tests mandatory for decades to come as there is apparently no possible end to covid-19 - its here for good.0
