Vapour coming out of toilet when cleaning

So I decided to give my toilet a nice deep clean, It's a new build flat so it's just me who has lived here, I'm at the top, I know you can get vapour if you mix different cleaners with bleach, but I only use bleach and a small amount.

As soon as I used this to push all the water down I started to get vapour smoke coming out not a big amount but enough to see.

You have emptied the u bend. That's a trap to keep all the smells and vapours in the soil pipe and out of your flat. Just flush, and it will fill with water again.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Flush the toilet and don't worry about it.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

Thanks I wasn't worried about it just wondering why that would happen, I have done a deep clean like this in previous homes and never seen any vapour come out.

O just to say the plunger in the picture is the best plunger for anyone with a blocked toilet 👍

You may have done it before but have you been at the top of a stack of other flats when you have done it? It's a little different when it is only you or possibly one other connected to the soil stack.

Well I have learnt something then lol This is the first time being in a flat with others below.
  • What will the vapour be? Steam from a sink or bath's hot waste?

I took it to be the stink from their No.2’s etc rather than actual visible steam! It would be weird though is there was steam coming out of it though…

It wasn't steam it was vapour just like what would happen if you mix bleach with other toilet cleaners.
  • I think I recall similar from a shared vent pipe at the top of a block of 6 flats. There would often be a visible 'vapour' and it was clearly warm, but not as stinky as you would fear. I put it down to grey waste from sinks, baths and stuff. An AAV sorted it.

I didn't smell anything but to be on the safe side I opened the window incase it was toxic fumes.
