RSB Legal - Checking on CMC's

I was scammed by RSB Legal as well, BUT was able to recover all of my outlay via the Section 75 provisions in the Consumer Crefit Act 1974
IMPORTANT: The process for making a Section 75 claim against a credit card payment processor is very easy. One does NOT need a solicitor; the forms have to be provided by the credit card company and are simple to fill in if one has even just limited information  since the credit card company have to provide reasonable assistance in the matter. PROVISO: any such claim must be within the legal time limits, usually within 6 years of the credit card transaction date.
INFORMATION:
Claims management companies (CMC's) are now required to registerr with the FCA - the Financial Conduct Authority, under regulations defining CASS (client assets) handling.(There is a huge amount of info about CASS on the FCA website.) Again it is very easy to check if a CMC is more likely to be genuine by checking the very simple to use FCA register on-line. If NOT easily findable, or with a lapsed or deleted registration...RUN away, the likelyhood is that the CMC is not fully legitimate. Also check other registers...Companies House searches can be revealing, or even the public register at the ICO i.e. the data protection register maintained by the Information Commissioners Office.
To finally and properly terminate an invideous timeshare contract, it will almost certainly inolve a solicitor who is firstly, registered with the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) and who is likely to have to risk their own time/money in a form of no-win-no-fee contract, since they are NOT allowed to charge "up-front" for anything other than likely disbursements, generally limited to £100. This is why they generally want a significant percentage of any proceeds resulting from their work.
Finally, the financial payment processors (banks and credit card companies) are getting fed up with being subjected to Section 75 claims. Thus, they are now refusing to process payments to companies for "legal services" as soon as this is detected by their antifraud systems. The CMC's then try all sorts of ways of getting paid  but generally this ends up trying to persuade people to pay by bank transfer on-line.This provides almost no financial protection, should the CMC fail to do anything. Banks are refusing to get involved in any sort of charge-back claims against unregulated CMC's, if money has changed hands using a direct bank transfer.

Apologies for the lengthy post but hope it helps...
