So this is a interesting one.

Depending on the value of the Fridge AO may have fulfilled their obligation under CRA in so far as offering a partial refund, £150.  Which is the end of your claim against AO.
  • It wasnt for a partial refund. That was towards insurance (which didn't pay out). The fridge was £500

It's one of the problems when retailers flout consumer law and defer their own responsibilities back to the manufacturer, a la Curry's. But consumer law is toothless and relies on the total cooperation of retailers, otherwise good luck taking them to court, I'm quite sure they have a team of solicitors ready for your actions.

Not if the repair/refund was offered by 0800 under the authority of Fridgemaster. The OP said that AO simply told her to contact 0800 as the manufacturer's appointed service agent. Neither Fridgemaster nor 0800 have any CRA 2015 obligation, as they did not sell the item to the OP.
My understanding is that FM made their offer purely on a goodwill basis, as it was out of warranty. They bore the cost, not AO.
