    Write to your MP.
MP's are to busy responding to people complaining about parking tickets they've received.

  • And helping Married Women get the arrears of State Pension they should have been paid.

It would appear that this poster's MP acted promptly.......

I wrote to my MP, who wrote back the next day, asking for further details so that she could contact the DWP.  Today she emailed me a copy of the reply sent to her by the DWP.  It states the amount that I will receive and says that my first four weeks of pension will be paid in arrears into my bank account on 26th August, and four weekly thereafter.  I still haven't received a letter from the DWP, but they claim in the email to my MP that they sent one out on 19th August, so it may still be in the post.

    MP  1     DWP  0 ?

Unless it's me who misunderstood, that was a humorous post playing on the word 'outstanding', along the lines of:

Humorous posts aside. If my wife reached state pension age on the 24th August when can we expect her first pension payment?

The horse's mouth......of course he could be lying through his teeth/ living in hope rather than expectation...... :)

    Your first payment

Your first payment will be within 5 weeks of reaching State Pension age. You’ll get a full payment every 4 weeks after that.

You might get part of a payment before your first full payment. The letter will tell you what to expect.

I have just seen the above.

Have our  (justifiably aggrieved)  fellow  posters taken up the suggestion to  try the power of the press?  :)
  • Yesterday, six weeks after I should have got my first pension payment, I received the following text.
"We've processed your state pension claim. We will send you a letter which will explain everything you need to know. You do not need to contact us"
This text swiftly following the last one they sent me on May 7th, telling me that my claim was being processed.
So, quick as a flash, the mighty DWP apparatus has sprung into action.
I wait eagerly for the letter..... and maybe even some pension?
    • March 2021 - filled in the application form online, received auto-acknowledgement of receipt.
    • July - reached pensionable age.
    • August - heard absolutely nothing, so called DWP in early August.
    • After spending very nearly 3 hours on hold over 3 calls (call 1, cut off when I got through; call 2 - call a different department; call 3 - ooh, we'll flag this up for 'urgent action')
    • September - still heard absolutely nothing - I don't even know if the claim is being processed.
