Can london_1984
update as to just what did happen?
DWP payment due to reach my account on 31/08 was available from the early hours of Saturday, 28/08. That is Clydesdale, now Virgin Money.

I'd also be interested to know what happened in the OP's case.
(As I expected, my private pension arrived in my bank account this morning, Tuesday 31 August.)

Same here, wage slip supplied Saturday, payday for me today as suspected. Account balance not shown to reflect wages in or available to draw until waking this morning.0

For me, payday is on the 28th, and has been for over 40 years. I wonder why some/many employers choose the last day of the month?0
-
I imagine it's good for payroll companies (and banks) if not all employers use the same payday to spread out the load through the month better. In my various jobs I've been paid on:
- last day of the month
- 26th
- 25th
- 27th
- 15th
- 17th

I was paid on the last Friday of the month.
Husband was paid on 15th of month.0 -
