The owner of the land can NOT clamp or tow away! POFA put a stop to thattacpot12 said:The owner of the land can clamp your car or have it towed away. It's their land and you are tresspassing on it.
The note you received is not from the Police. It is someone who is trying to scare you into not parking on the land. I think you should continue to park there as it will make a good internet video when you come back to find your car clamped.0 -
You were parking on someone's property without their permission. No different than if you parked on someone's drive without their permission. Maybe they can't clamp or tow but they can block you in and a chimney might accidentally fall on your car. Why risk it?mrwing said:

I agree and yes I shouldn't and I have taken the hint to stop parking there. Simply because NCP took over car park where you have to pay Evening Rates and I would have to pay evening rates every day all because NCP taken over the car park so no free parking after 6pm. Which is why I parked on otherside as it is Money Saving.fisherjim said:The police wouldn't be interested in this I'm sure, I doubt they go around with scrappy note paper, and they wouldn't clamp you on private land unless maybe the car was not taxed. However why do you think you can park in a service area for 30minutes that sort of arrogance is why PPC's exist, and you are lucky to have got away with what seems to be someone trying to scare you off take the hint would be my advice.0 -

it is in a serviced area behind an Empty Shop Unit which has been empty for over a year. Unless the solicitors of the next door retail units come along to state what land is owned by who, I am simply assuming where I am park is not belonging to the operating shop Unit.0 -

Just comply with the request of the landowner. You're lucky that a PPC like Excel, VCS or UKCPM aren't involved or ultimately you'd be facing a day in court and a huge stack of work to protest your innocence - and from what you've written I think you'd have a very hard job.Any bit of private parking land is potentially a mantrap for the unwary or the motorist who feels they have an entitlement to park how, where and whenever they like. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I sort of guessed it wasn't due to the poor handwriting, but had doubts and reached out.Umkomaas said:

If you park on private land you must expect hassle from scammers. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Odds on its no more than a scare letter.
Scare letters and scare signs are better than a ppc
However the message is that you shouldn't be parking there without permission.
Now you know that its annoying someone, either get permission to park from the landowner, or park some where else.
And while you can not be clamped or towed, or even face police action some R sole may accidentally bump the vehicle or drop some screws under the wheels.
get permission (they can only say no) or park elsewhere.
if you ask nicely you may well get permission, especially if it makes a place look occupied and cared for. From the Plain Language Commission:
