I'm not sure what the environmental impact is from artificial grass? For a lot of people, the alternative would be laying a patio which increases rain water run off and flood risk. Artificial grass allows water to drain through naturally. There will be some impact of the plastic production but as it's not a single use product, I would think the impact would be minimal.1 -

Its going as its horrible, Id rather have grass and none of us have allergies to the grass.
The whole garden needs landscaping as its been left to go wild and its full of brambles and nettles. But the astroturf will be used for choking the weeds prior to landscaping.2
