I understand exactly what you're going through, I declared mental health and regrettably taking an unprescribed benzo a couple of times (not while on the road) as I was banned. They ordered a drug test which I've been waiting 5 months after my ban and I'm still waiting despite being "highest priority"
They take so long, I've never had a good experience with the medical department of the DVLA.
good luck.0 -
Finally heard back today with my medical license.
It is valid for one year, does this mean they'll review again in a years time and providing everything is the same, I can continue to drive whilst it's being processed ? I don't need to retake my test do I ?0 -

AIUI, a time-limited licence requires you to renew at the end of the time (before expiry) with a medical declaration, but you can drive in the meantime and should not need to retake your test.
DVLA will send you a letter 3 months before the licence runs out:

Good luck, hope everything goes well for you.1 -
Is that the actual licence or just the length the photo card one is valid for? (Yes I know there aren't paper licences anymore).I think with my epilepsy I got a year long licence and renewed without taking a test a few times. I think they give shorter length licences to see how you manage rather than a standard licence. You may need to have to fill in paperwork when you renew to get confirmation from your consultant that your condition hasn't worsened in a year.May you find your sister soon Helli.

When it's time to renew, if there are still delays at the dvla and they take a long time to send me my stuff back, can I continue to drive? I know its unlikely to take over 3 months for them to reply but just curious.. thanks0
