Ridiculous Wait Times At The DVLA
Options
I had to declare my meds/mental health condition back in Nov 2020. ( I hadn't drove since 2013 )
They wrote to my psychiatrist and they sent the form back about 4 months ago.
They also wrote to my GP, and the DVLA received that 2 weeks ago
If I phone up they just say it's been transferred to another department and that they'll update me when possible.
I find it absurd to have to wait this long, it's impeding my life and I cannot move forward without some transport.
Is there anything I can do to hurry this along ?

As has been said in all of those previous threads... you can't.
DVLA take their own sweet time at the best of times.
Right now, they are STILL buried under that backlog of post which is not getting smaller in any hurry.1 -

They did say it's now a high priority and the last time it was reviewed was Sunday 15th. So hopefully not too much longer.0 -
Stuff that I assume is automated, to a degree, is going very quickly.
In the past two weeks I've put two private plates onto retention, sold two cars and bought two new cars.
All the retention certs and various V5s have been received within a couple of days.
I guess it's just hard luck that your requirement needs a human.

I too have had a quick service from the Dvla albeit only a transfer of ownership of a car, no complaints from me

The OP's case is very different, and entirely manual.0
