hoping someone will be able to help. I wanted to add a signature like others showing my outstanding debt etc. When editing the signature settings states I do not have permissions to edit ‘ add signature.

I don't know but it could be, as with posting links and Editing posts, that you are not allowed access until you've been a member for a while and made a certain number of posts. MSE keep the length of time and number of posts secret. This is a Spam prevention precaution.2
