Southern water has set my direct debits on usage of about 35% more than my average usage. Anyone else notice this?

Sorry, I’m new and didn’t realise I’d posted under bankruptcy!

I don’t pay water by direct debit, I pay by bank transfer every 6 months, for this reason.  I believe that they tend to over compensate with the direct debits so you don’t fall in to arrears, calculating a prediction of usage increase in certain times of the year.

I get my water from Southern too, and I pay by DD every 6 months, in arrears based on my water meter readings.

If you can afford to pay 6x as much at once but 6x less often, this might work for you? All the automation of a DD but no credfit balance to carry?

Is the six month DD in arrears available to all by request (I couldn’t find anything about it on SW website)?
