Baileybrody said:Hi..I have had my motability car for 14 months but motability allowing me to change early to an automatic car due to change in my condition. All is well until Iam told by a friend that rsa can refuse to insure me because of the points I have acquired. I have got 3 separate speeding fines totaling me now having 9 points.i also never told rsa each time I got the points as I genuinely thought they were informed automatically but I guess not. Now I'm petrified of contacting them to tell them as they could remove me from insurance there n then and I would be left with no car. Will they deem me high risk over speeding fines and remove me from insurance or am I overreacting. Thanks
You should never with hold information from any insurance company and this includes RSA. I've always found them very helpful when contacting them. All you can do is ring them and be honest and tell them exactly how many points you have and what they're for. I don't think anyone here can tell you whether you whether they would refuse to continue to insure you and only they can tell you that. All i can advise is it's always better to be honest and tell them, rather than they find out themself.

And I'm also going to add that I used to find it easier to stick to speed limits in a manual car than I do in my automatic, because the automatic will just keep accelerating and changing up the gears, whereas at least in my manual I would consider my speed before changing up, and this helped me.Signature removed for peace of mind1

Never had any issues with this myself and been driving automatics for over 10 years. OP should slow down to be fair because 12 points within a 3 year period is a minimum 6 month ban.Savvy_Sue said:And I'm also going to add that I used to find it easier to stick to speed limits in a manual car than I do in my automatic, because the automatic will just keep accelerating and changing up the gears, whereas at least in my manual I would consider my speed before changing up, and this helped me.

Unfortunately, I don't think you are overreacting over accruing 9 speeding points, and your failure to inform Motability about these points.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.3 -
Yes indeed. No insurance company is automatically told about points on a driving license.Alice_Holt said:

And a ban will mean that RSA won't insure you for 5 years after you've served your banpoppy12345 said:

You need to bite the bullet and contact them straight away.Baileybrody said:Now I'm petrified of contacting them to tell them as they could remove me from insurance there n then and I would be left with no car. Not only would you end up with a driving ban but you could be liable for all the costs, which could run into hundreds of thousands if someone is injured.2 -
You need to contact them. If you have received points since being with them and haven't informed them it would have impacted your insurance cover anyway if you'd had an accident.
Burying your head in the sand isnt going to change the points you've got and you are lucky you have got away with not having to make a claim and finding out you are not insured arent you.

OP - before using your car again, check what your copy of the Motability insurance policy has to say about non-disclosure of points. As other posters have said you may find your insurance to be invalidated (through your non disclosure).
Driving without valid insurance is not only reckless, but a serious offence.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.1 -
Hi everyone. Thanks for all your input and I agree with you all I've been very niave and very careless with by not informing rsa and acquiring the points in the 1st place. My driving is much more careful now I make sure I'm well below speed limits etc and all round pay attention more. Just an update I've contacted rsa who were very helpful and informed me cover will continue thankfully but that I'm borderline now and to be very careful as I'm on last chance as it were. Again I agree and most definitely will be doing all I can to make sure I don't lose my licence. Lesson well and truly learned thankfully I've been given another chance. again thank you all for your input5
