Title Register - mortgage lender still listed as a charge?

Hello
I'm dealing with my late mother's house and we'll be starting the process of putting the house on the market. I thought I best have a look at the digital Title Register information held by the Land Registry as I haven't yet come across any paperwork relating to this. However, I noticed that in the Charges section that Lloyds bank is still listed there. Mum paid off her mortgage quite a few years ago, so am I right in my understanding that this Charge should then be removed? Do they remain on there for any other reason?
If it still there in error, does anyone know if i need to approach the bank directly to remove it themselves or is it carried out via the Land Registry?
Thank you

They remain if nobody has bothered removing it. The solicitors can deal with it, no real need for you to sort it out now, though you might want to double check there's definitely nothing still payable.1

Thank youWe are in the process of buying a property that has a charge registered and we know 100% that this mortgage was paid off years ago and it has caused a lot of problems as we can’t buy until it’s removed.I believe the executors solicitor who is dealing in the sale is now looking into this to have it removed, which he should have done months ago but due to the age of the account it may take a while for the bank to locate it and the solicitor and executors don’t have any paperwork relating to old mortgage account apart from the owners name and how much it was for and when it was taken out which will make it harder to locate1 -

Thank you everyone. Will definitely follow up as a priority with the lender, so it hopefully doesn't delay things too much.0

Who has the deeds? Years ago my parents it was either £1 debt or credit and the company kept the deeds secure. but in the eyes of the law they still had a open account.0

A very common occurrence that can lead to all sorts of problems if the original lender doesn't now exist.
