Mis sold Package by Halifax rejected due to account being opened for more than 6 yrs

Raised a complaint to Halifax via Resolver for being mis sold a package bank account back in 2010.

Halifax states as the account is more than 6 years old the Financial Services authority advise that these claims don't need to be considered as they are too old and I've  left it to long.

Anyone else aware of this, I can't see anything online.

I will appeal to the FSA

The Food Standards Agency are unlikely to help you with a packaged bank account complaint.

The time bar appears to have been applied correctly, you have no way of taking this further.

There are 2 rules for financial complaints -
6 years from the point the account is opened
3 years from when you knew, or could have reasonably known, you had cause for complaint. The latter part of the sentence is specific as it doesn't mean you can pick a date from thin air like claim you only knew yesterday, it covers various things that can trigger it such as account closure or the bank telling you that you can complain.

If the account is more than 6 years old which it is, that invokes the time bar.
If it was closed more than 3 years ago and/or is still open but they have sent the annual statement of benefits which tells you that you can change to a free one, or indeed, you switched to a free on, then they can invoke the 3 year rule too.

Complaining to the Food Standards Agency is a bit silly.

The FOS cannot overrule a correctly applied timebar.

If Halifax have time barred your complaint correctly, your complaint is over.

They can't help with that either.

If they resort to comfort eating, I guess they are.

Maybe the DCMS can help them?
