kimp22: My condition started with my feet becoming deformed and dropping, in addition my hips were crumbling at the very top ... whilst I would struggle to walk any great distance I could still manage to ski (well in a fashion!!) ... the boots acted like calipers stopping the foot drop, and as you ski very slightly squatted that rotated the hip to say the 2 o' clock position which was still healthy bone and so far less pain. But with walking you can't avoid crossing over the 12 o'clock position and so considerable pain ... people at work would (in a nasty way) say "well how can you manage to ski if you can't walk" ... I had a disabled bay ... and someone at work complained to HR that I manage to go skiing but yet claimed to struggle with walking as to get special parking.
Another example of double standards ... war veteran double amputee ... walks several miles wearing prosthetics to raise funds for charity ... they are hero ... an "ordinary" disabled person daring to do the same ... then they are sponging off the state.
So yes it is often like that ... disabled people aren't allowed a life are they.
Re. PIP bar 10 months wait I found the process quite fair assessment wise, but I had a very strong claim with lots of supporting documents, and I think that I am lucky in that the PIP descriptors seem to be better suited to the effects of my condition.0
