Club la Costa - Timeshare/Holiday Club - compensation claim

We have been contacted (cold call) by a company called ECC (European Consumer Claims) who are offering to try and obtain compensation from Club La Costa (CLC) as we walked away from CLC a few years ago, but we would have to pay £X,000 up front, which they say we would get back if the case was won. This could take up to a year to take through the Spanish courts.
It appears ECC have had success in their efforts for other ex-members of CLC in obtaining compensation but we are worried about paying out more money with no guarantee that we will get any compensation monies back let alone the money we would need to pay ECC! Could this be a case of "throwing more good money after bad"?

My questions are:
Has anyone heard of ECC or had any dealings with them? Are they reputable?
Should we pay ECC to take on our claim for compensation or accept we have lost money to CLC and walk away?
Has anyone heard that CLC is going into liquidation?

COURT ORDERS EUROPEAN CONSUMER CLAIMS (ECC) TO REFUND TIMESHARE OWNER IN FULL AFTER HE TAKES LEGAL ACTION OVER MISREPRESENTED CLAIMS SERVICE

on Friday 22 November, some 3 years and 8 months after he paid ECC, a judge ordered that he be refunded in full.

    the company claim

ECC are one of the market leaders in the timeshare claims and relinquishments industry. To date ECC have helped over 3,200 people to release themselves from unwanted timeshares and are processing thousands of claims for compensation via the UK and Spanish courts.

In Spain their appointed firm of lawyers M1 Legal are currently processing over 1500 timeshare cases of which 964 lawsuits have already been submitted to court at a value of over £21 million and have already achieved 191 favorable judgements totaling £3.1 million.

Rule number 1, never pay anything upfront for these types of service
Rule number 2, never trust any business that cold calls you about escaping from timeshare
Rule number 3, check Companies House and find what the directors, in this case only one, have been up to in the past. Here we discover Mr Cooper has been a director of 7 companies, 6 of which have been dissolved and one of which was Club Class Concierge Ltd which was closed down by order of the High Court for alleged fraud following an application by the Secretary of State for Business
Rule number 4. Considering your answers to 1-3 above, decide whether you want to do business with them!
  • Thank you so much for your replies and information
  • Several reputable companies do No Win No Fee Club La Costa Claims. They are FCA-regulated, and you do not pay them any upfront fees. Many companies, such as the ones mentioned above, are only interested in upfront fees. If you deal with a company with something to gain based on a successful outcome, that is your best bet.
