I'm with savingholmes on not rushing onto a plane anytime soon, although if it was somewhere nice and warm with a beach I might be persuaded ☀️☀️☀️"Think of many things, do one"

) .. I decided it makes no sense due to having to miss the first day, the testing and of course if I pick something up travelling I get to send 10 days in switzerland over xmas quarantining so ..
I am triple jabbed and I did travel /worked abroad away this summer without any issues so,, I am missing travelling so much - I am normally away every other month at least abroad working and having fun .. Still my saving rates keeps going up
Always like to check my mid month monthly Marc** interest £16.42
(which would be more if I had not chosen to have faith in premium bonds, no wins as yet but it has been only 3 full months )
MFW savings 11/08/21 £67,711.70 09/12/21 £79,243.47 /£100K
Dec savings £991.17 of Goal £2,252,81pm
This is actually too high as 20+k of my savings are in a S&S and it has come down £400 over the last 2 weeks. I am though still up £3k

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

My S&S have resembled Tigger this week. This morning the global fund has uncreased by 740, having first lost a good proportion of that over the last two weeks so you are not alone.
Re PB I was reading an article a couple of months ago which basically said if you have less than £10k you beat the odds if you win anything. We have won six x £25 across two bond holdings this calendar year. Both are a bit more than £10k and all the wins have come within the £10k numbers. It makes me wonder if when I reach another £10k I should sell all the small ones and buy a block again.
I also have no readiness to fly again for the foreseeable future, but I had moved from flying as my first choice a long time before all this pandemic shenanigansSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

I will look at my funds at the end of the year - these markets are crazy
I am glad i did not go on the cruise - it ended up changing its route day 1 (covid) so I could not have gone on it and due to the French stopping Brits apparently they have today had to re-route most the cruise as the Brits cant get off in France!
Very hungover today but managed to work through it.
I am deliberately eating my freezer down so I can get back to one freezer only for when I go away for xmas, so my food bills are low.. However it turns out my high bill is entirely due to having the boiler on for the heating so..
I am buying all my xmas gifts on my credit card just to track the total cost. I have a monthly gift budget anyway but I always end up spending lots of it for annual birthdays so Nov and Dec is always throwing money at it. This year I will track what I spen and save extra earlier in the year.
Hope all are keeping safe. I feel very sorry for all the staff and restaurants who suddenly have half empty bars and tables being cancelled.

When I ran the place back in the 1980s we received a tiny amount of money (literally under £10 pay) per session and relied on tips. Then when the owner added 10% to the bill he was pursued for the VAT and told us he would pay us more and our tax and insurance. The adding of service charge meant most people stopped tipping. It's worse now with cash reducing. We used to put all the tips in a big pot and share them across all the front of house staff (as the kitchen staff were paid much better), including the meeter and greeter, bar and desserts preparerSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Quick end of year roundup - HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
SIPP - £30,421.39 - so met my 30k goal.
House deposit - will come back on this. Didnt get paid in Dec so will wait for that to clear as moved 3k over covering xmas and new mac laptop.
I do need to buy a new one for some new work has come in which will cover the cost and new software I need at least - so will be a small dip in deposit before I get paid for that. Will shop around but it will be £2.5k probably - I did make £700 this month on MB which helps as free money. I buy a new computer every 6 to 9 yrs so.. If I buy cheaper I will regret it.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
