Been enjoying Pips advent. I have 2 pairs of go to earrings but sadly lost one of a pair somewhere outside (I usually take off jewellery before doing the horses but on this one time thought it would be fine!). The advent made me sort through the jewellery that is just fun stuff and I dropped off a small envelope at the Charity Shop. All very nice but none was in my I would wear category anymore. That was more about the death cleaning - just keep what fits my life now or the life I am moving towards not the one behind me.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
WelshmansDaughter said:Pips advent had me thinking about my 21st jewellery. Its a ring though so not the most practical for wearing work wise but like you, wouldn’t sell for sentimental reasons. I did consider having it changed into earrings though
I have some jewels (couple odd diamond earrings where I lost the second one!), gold (and cash from family for my 50th ) to make up a pair of earrings but think what I want will be too heavy etcskint_spice said:I hope the feedback goes ok with management company but sounds promising.
Loving the sound of the advent jewellery, I need to find a pair of earrings that I love. They weren’t expensive but I miss them!
Fingers crossed indeed on the new rent indeed - I am chanting for a decreaseWatty1 said:Been enjoying Pips advent. Groceries £91.25 + Xmas food £45.13 + junk £12.95 (this includes the traditional sweets I bought for a dinner and then opps ate them)
Alcohol costs will be counted on top.
Yet more Grocery shopping last night and today on way back from gym.. I am taking some food today to a party, plus cooking for 6 one eve then 9 the next eve - but loads of courses - all next week . Some traditional dishes ideally are cooked over a few days so already on day 3 on one version but I do need to make a veggie version (though the smoked meats are part of the taste so not sure how it will turn out veggie wise)
Cauldron cooking - feeling very witchy (in a good way)
One dish I am making I use a huge cast iron cauldron and as you cook, stir, and watch for hours over a few days - I am feeling very Hestia Goddess of the Hearth . but even more I am feeling witchy.. Brandishing my long handled wooden spoon, the constant stirring, tasting, adding extra spices etc - all feels v witch like and definitely taps me back to generations past on my family line who all made this dish. I now need to do some work so have now popped in the oven to see if I can get it to dry out a bit more.. its edging on soup and needs to be dryer.
The cauldron only just fits in the oven!
Just like @PennysIntoPounds jewellery advent taking many of us all into the past of gifted jewellery so I am reminded as I make the traditional food and favourite family recipes, how Christmas also reminds us of where we came from and lost loved ones.
I also popped up the Xmas decorations - I got rid of the faux tree in Jan but going big and bold with the others.
Todays jewelsNot sure as yet but eyeing up a large faux necklace (bit eye of the tiger) OR a large phoenix piece

Are you in your mermaid era? What were they worn with?skint_spice said:Found the earrings! So happy 🎉)
JEWELS OF THE DAY
I went with a pair of giant sparkly triple hoop diamante earrings and a Swarowski large ring where the crystal had broke in half and its actually cooler for it. I bought the same ring again and the stone fell out the second one.. so obviously badly made. I bought the ring with some inheritance money from when my aunt died..
Neither had been worn in at least 5 years. Did have a Xmas thing to go to.redofromstart said:dawnybabes said:I tested the Shark one this summer, I loved the speed of it and convenience but didn’t notice the cooling eye pad thing as a bonus. I'm glad its not just me tempted by goodies bought for pressies. I'm currently eyeing up some chocolate covered nuts which are part of a present so I might have to wrap those and post them off to avoid temptation.3
