) missing a comma in the wrong place - I blame the tequila.. but yes that'd work
Tx @KajiKita
EOM OCT round up
Premium Bond win £0 again
YNAB tells me in the last 12 months I had £250 wins in PB... but at over £16k in there .. the avg luck is £600 according the mse calc so this is not good news. Yes I do pay tax on my interest so £250 x 1.20 is still only £300
I may move some into my CASH ISA. Before the Apr 24 budget you could only have one cash isa and I was filling my h2b one but these poor results on PB are very underwhelming... I may fill my cash isa up - got about £13k of space and leave rest in the PB's
SIPPS £59,578.30 ( was £59,810.89 - end Sep) ) - Added £472.61 in Oct
The sipps that had hit over £61k mid month have come back down after the budget and ahead the US elections to £59,578.30 so just missing again my initial £60k target.
I am still staying over £80k in my Van isa & sipp combined at least - £80,306.71
NAV inc my Sipps £180,428.19 so hse deposit APPROX £120K
This excludes my currant acct savings for some pots etc and due loads...
It is down this month as owed some £2k cc for travel expenses plus not been paid much. It will right itself
I did have to drain some of my category groups though to pay my bills as my 'next month money' category only had £300+ in...
Interest
£8.19 the Mzo easy access
£24.21 H2B isa
some other amts not yet arrived
Baby Crypto 138.68 now - £132.66 is what was deposited)
Will add £13 more in from MB profit (which was over £1k again this month)
OP Tilly Tidy Isa £866.87 plus small interest to come
was end Sept £723.01 - target for end Oct was at least £1300 which I failed
My save £850 per month as extra between rent and mortgage - i missed my target but did save £693!

Still very good saving!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
Great annual results despite being owed money still. Glad you are charging interest and they are starting to take it more seriously. Good that you have another mini side hustle.
Look forward to hearing about your launch of the programme...
Good luck flat hunting.

Hello, reading your low carb stuff with great interest. Am I right in thinking you have a Panas0nic bread maker for making GF stuff? Do you recommend it? And any particular recipe? I buy the shop stuff but it's all fairly nasty. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I also make lots of brown variations which work well except I do like to go off piste on recipes so sometimes there can be variations - I mix brown and white bread gf plus otter flours, add linseeds and sunflower seeds etc - do fruit loaves
when you start stick with the machine version or the one on the Doves GF white flour packet for machine
it also does GF pizza dough and pasta etc but not tried that
I have the one which has the nut/seed thing as I like to add that but don’t worry if not as it doesn’t always work on all gf recipes so I end up opening the bread maker to add in more - the normal cycle is 6 mins - then you open it to scrape down the sides - then an hour plus
You will need to freeze excess slices for the next day as 24hrs later as no preservatives in it so it tends to go hard after a day - but then you get delicious HM GF toast so
I did the maths on the cost and it worked out £1.30 per loaf inc cooking and all ingredients for a decent size gf lovely loaf - as in bigger than the a schar brand by a third again
@savingholmes I have stopped looking for flats whilst I get this course sorted and a new CV as I need a new job.
the main contract I have where the hours have slowly waned but they owe me loads - there is a massive investor buying in and they want more control so I have lost a fair amount of work and it wouldn’t surprise when the deal goes through I will be massively downsized or completely taken out of the equation - I have helped build that company from v small to this and had been promised some shares (which I may still be getting) either way I need to move forward - I have been promised a chunk of cash this week
on this note I was asked to fly to the States this week to do some work in a v fun city but there was something telling me not to go, plus it’s another company where I needed to prepay the costs and get paid back December- so I said no
I really feel I need to focus on getting new job, new software skills and thus house buying - so I did 80 mins yesterday home study in the software Udemy course and have a goal to do minimum that daily
Also by not being on a plane yesterday I was able to help my main contract on some work and making the point subtly on how good I am - their systems are in chaos now they dropped the one I built and main director saying he regrets dropping the system .. I am thinking of building one as a side project to sell on
I started the intermediate software course Mon eve (as teacher who knows me from another class says I was too advanced for the beginners despite being a beginner in this )
Somehow I managed to follow along ok so that has kicked me into getting the basics covered - I think it’s more important to my life plan than another trip to the States for not that much money and it’s a long haul flight for 3 days
@Watty1 yes somehow I have saved a lot - it’s a miracle !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Had a refund from my overpayment of NI which I claimed and also a small invoice paid - YNAB still looks skinny as drained lots of pots
I have been offered a short 6 week contract I often do annually - super interesting enjoyable work but the day rate has not gone up in a decade . Last time they said they were keeping costs down for the client but again if I want to buy a home I need to upgrade my day rate - of course the attraction is guaranteed work in Jan/Feb but theoretically I will have got a much better day rate job elsewhere by then - decisions to be made if I say yes as before I worked other jobs around this short contract but maybe the new (yet to be found job) hours wouldn’t allow that
I live high up so had a spectacular Fireworks display literally outside my window from the small park opposite- super loud when I then went outside (no pets and my cats just ignored them ) but the view from the inside was incredible and I was warm! It did make me appreciate where i live but I did think I might have bought this time next year so
Due to me thinking I was abroad this week I cancelled my EMS and not done much grocery shopping but I have plenty in the freezer and the beans are in their forever ‘soak, freeze, then cook’ cycle - may start buying them in bigger bags!Still no end is nigh on emptying the freezer to defrost
MG 5 things yesterday - back on this but I have so many clothes - far more than my ‘containers’ aka wardrobes can take - I could buy another wardrobe . But that seems ridiculous- something has to give - I can deal with my 100+ pairs shoes on a giant shoe rack and the boots in a chest but squishing clothes is not good for them
they all mostly fit well - only a few pounds away from where I want to be - but I find my clothes the hardest to get rid off and often regret if I do - for me clothing is costume and I love choices and the incredible outfits I have bought across the planet
Wardrobe situation is suddenly worse though as I had a few old smart suits (expensive) from my time in the City at my parents which I have bought back home but I never wear suits anymore and don’t go to an office so I need to look at those afresh - I don’t need to keep them all -DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Good to hear about the NI refund and the small invoice payment. Even better to read about your shift of focus to YOU and what YOU need, rather than prioritising that main contractor who seems to be shedding you as soon as a new investor with different priorities is coming in …. (Am I being unreasonable in being a bit cross about this on your behalf?)
Re the 6 weeks contract, why not go back and offer them a day rate at what it should be after a decade - they can only say no! 😉🤷♀️ If they don’t value you enough they don’t deserve you.Does the job search start now or after the intermediate software training is officially completed and you have the ‘ticket’? Is a certificate for the software a critical criterion? The clothes thing is interesting when looking at the quote below your signature …. 😉KKAs at 15.07.25:
