Changing car to lower power - frustrating?

There's a Seat Ateca and Skoda Karoq with around 190bhp, or a 140bhp version to save a bit of cash and mpg.SallyDucati said:Thanks everyone. I was looking at BMW X1 or Audi Q3, with 200ish-250ish bhp but could get newer cheaper with lower power. I may specifically look to diesel to get low down torque.
I've got a 245bhp Octavia and was half a considering an SUV for a bit of a change when I do come round to replace it, but would want to do a test drive first to see if I could live with it."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
Really discouraging to see people on here, who evidently have money, discussing buying new ICE cars - especially diesels.

'evidently have money'? No, I just now choose to finance my cars by saving rather than borrowing. I am not looking to buy new because the cost of that is more than I have saved up. On top of that I would have to pay to have a charger installed which would also involve digging my garden up, and live in a semi rural village so public charging isn't really a viable option.BOWFER said:Really discouraging to see people on here, who evidently have money, discussing buying new ICE cars - especially diesels.
Everyones circumstances are different - I definitely want to go 'electric' once the charging infrastructure is more developed and he cost of charging points comes down, even with the government grant. And there are more used on the market.3 -
Completely agree - I've just bit the bullet and ordered my Skoda Enyaq yesterday, but then I've been driving hybrids for over 5 years so was part way there already.BOWFER said:Really discouraging to see people on here, who evidently have money, discussing buying new ICE cars - especially diesels.
Interestingly I test drove the Volvo XC40 and on paper it should be super fast (402 BHP against 179 for the Enyaq), but for some reason (and against all logic) it's really slow to pull away. The Enyaq by comparison is really nippy pulling away, as well as still cruising well on the motorway. Combine that with the excellent range and larger interior space, the Enyaq is a really nice car.0 -
I'm not knocking how you're paying for the car, I'm just saying that the make/model of cars you're looking at aren't cheap and it's disheartening to see people still wanting to spend sizeable money on a diesel.SallyDucati said:

The cost of the charger would easily be offset by fuel saving costs
I'm not sure why you'd have to dig up your garden to get one, but OK.0 -
Or encouraging, depending on one's opinion.BOWFER said:Really discouraging to see people on here, who evidently have money, discussing buying new ICE cars - especially diesels.2 -
Why is it encouraging?Ditzy_Mitzy said:

Can't think of a single reason why it's encouraging.Ditzy_Mitzy said:

My parking is at the end of the garden, so i can't have a charger on the house wall. tbh its as much the lack of charging infrastructure that puts me off at the moment. I'm looking at 5 yo + cars so probably not as much as you are thinking.BOWFER said:

How many miles over the lifetime of an EV do you have to drive to make it more sustainable than an ICE car?1
