My partner and myself had booked a holiday to Mauritius in December 2019. Thinking that this virus would have run it's course.

But it has not and now Covid certification is required both on the flight and destination.

We are both not comfortable with having the jabs, how do we stand on getting a refund?

    As above ^

Longer term if you don't have the vaccination you may start to find your travel options (and even activities in this country) are limited.

You of course don't have to go to Mauritius but you have no automatic right to a refund on your holiday costs just because you don't wish to be vaccinated.

You would need to ask the provider of the trip about cancellation options. It may be that the situation may have changed by the dates of your trip.

As a volunteer vaccinator for St John's Ambulance working for the NHS, I would also recommend you speak to a qualified medical doctor about your concerns on the vaccine, as you may find they can set your mind at ease if you discuss your specific concerns with them.

When you say covid certification what do you mean?
At the moment in the UK it often incorporate a negative test as not everyone has been able to get vaccinated.
The Uk doesn't have control over what mauritius does.
As others have said disinclination means you lose your money (or whatever the cancellation rules are).

but what exactly are the certification rules?

When are you supposed to travel?
    is the trip going ahead?

What does your tour operator/travel agent say about cancellation?

Vaccinated guests have to stay in  their hotel  or use the beach.

    UNVACCINATED GUESTS
    • You must book a quarantine stay in an official quarantine hotel, which includes meals and transfers.
    • You will need to stay in your hotel room for 14 days and meals will be delivered to your room
    • You will have a PCR test on your day of arrival, day 7 and day 14
    • After a negative PCR test on day 14, you can freely explore the island and move to new accommodation or to your home
  • The holiday was booked for April 2022.

Just a note - I've asked about a refund of a holiday. Not Vaccine advice.

As others have said you'll need to talk to the company you booked with.  It looks like Mauritius is accepting unvaccinated people assuming Sherambers post is correct so I wouldn't think you have much of a chance of a full refund but may be eligible for a partial one given that they have lots of time to get someone else to book.  But that will depend on the T&Cs.

I expect much could change in the next 8 months. You need to look at your terms and conditions to see the penalties for voluntarily cancelling 8 months out. If the terms allow you to cancel due to quarantine etc then you need to be clear how far in advance that is applicable...I would expect 2-4 weeks before travel date
