The strange thing is that all his close contacts are going to the airport and getting on a plane.
I guess that's something for travellers to bear in mind.
Some people might be happy about that but others might not want to be sat next to a close contact of an infected person.
Something to bear in mind when thinking about travelling (as well as possible quarantine abroad or UK).
Just my 2p, but I believe anyone getting on a plane this year is bonkers! :)
Hotels by car within the UK are enough for me this year (and usually I’m abroad 4-5 times a year)

I don't think any serious scientist believes the virus will ever go away. We will have to live with it.

I'd like to know how soon after being infected you can test negative on an antigen? And a PCR ?
Quicker to get a negative result on an antigen test than on PCR. Quicker still if the antigen test isn’t done properly!

There was a study, I think in Oxford, where people who had been vaccinated became negative on tests quicker than those who hadn’t been vaccinated.

The only "bonkers" aspect of it is the UK's pernicious and pecuniary testing regime.

How much longer will it be before people realise there is something amiss when they require no tests to go abroad but two to return ?

@BASHED   Hope your son is recovered and perhaps even home by now. Are you able to update the thread as it might be helpful for others who find themselves in the situation of testing positive whilst overseas.  What process did the Greek authorities follow and how was the quarantine accommodation? Did the travel insurers organise and pay for the extended stay and rescheduled flight costs?
