'just about everyone will make a very substantial gain,'

Hence my initial no brainer comment., but I realise now the system is stacked against me and is there to protect the general public from themselves , so unless there is a change in the market/rules I'm stuck with my DB pension as I'm not willing to shell out several grand to be told that in reality I can't transfer it.

It’s several grand to be potentially advised not to transfer, a big difference to being told you can’t transfer it. Decision at end of day is still yours to make. You are just obligated to take full regulated advice.

As far as I can tell the decision isn't mine as I can't transfer it anywhere . Nobody seems to be able to name a firm that will take a transfer that has been advised against.

Can anyone name a provider that will accept a transfer ?

  • As of today yes I can, that’s not to say they will at a later time decide to change their minds like AJ Bell did.

Or Arty688, you can set up a SSAS, this is easy to do for someone with a good understanding of pensions.

Interesting, do you need a limited company to do a SSAS though?

I have no interest in gaining a good understanding of the inner workings of the pension system. That doesn’t mean you don’t understand the overall process enough to make you informed decisions.

You've not even begun the process, posting who are they at this time is of no use to you.  Disclosing who they are on here will only inevitably result in them doing a AJ Bell as believe it was down to this forum that resulted in them pulling the plug.  Some big influencers on here by the looks of it that don't want us going against advice.
