Just thinking out loud here, and I've no idea how realistic this would be, but you would be "put back in the same position" if you returned the £65k and were in exchange priovides with a £4k pa index-linked annuity.A £4k pa index-linked annuity would (depending on options) cost something like £100k (see HL rates here).As you've spent the £65k and presumably don't want to return it, you might instead expect to receive £35k of restitution - either as a payment into a pension or as a £1400 pa annuity.N.
