But it is a lateral flow test I need to take 2 days before flying back. So are the government saying their tests don't work as well as commercial ones
.
Or is this just another sign of them being in bed with big business?
Can someone please enlighten me? What do I need to do?
Regards,
Ben

You need to follow the rules like everyone else, taking a test that involves providing proof afterwards:BenEdwards said:Can someone please enlighten me? What do I need to do?

They are really saying that the taxes other forum members here and I have paid shouldn't be used to fund your holidayBenEdwards said:But it is a lateral flow test I need to take 2 days before flying back. So are the government saying their tests don't work as well as commercial ones

Secondly, to enter the UK you need a certificate confirming the test results. The NHS self tests do not come with a certificate nor have a mechanism for one being produced for an overseas person.
You are perfectly entitled to use a local provider, we did for our return and cost £12, and so no UK government benefit other than them not paying for my test.7 -
Lateral flow tests aren't partcularly accurate, so you need a PCR test. I think you should do some more research on the what, where's and whens. They are only in bed with their friends, not even big business as a whole..0

Seriously how many times does this need to be asked and answered.
Have you looked at all for yourself on the official .gov.uk website?

I don't want my taxes paying for your holiday tests - if you're going on holiday you can afford a few quid more for your tests privately.
It's not rocket science and this question has been asked over and over since day 1.4 -
I don't think it's so much why you can't use the NHS ones, but more the prices being charged for getting the official ones. They widely vary in price. We paid £235 for all the tests daughter needed (inc one optional one due to an exam she was taking). Her age (18) meant she hadn't been double jabbed. From what I've read other countries are charging far less for the tests than here in the UK.
I am looking forward to reading the book written sometime in the future, explaining everything. I fully expect the words 'mates' and ;shares' to appear.
In the meantime you're left with the choices of pay or don't go.0 -
In that case why not utilise the APD only the passenger is paying for flying ?mattyprice4004 said:I don't want my taxes paying for your holiday tests - if you're going on holiday you can afford a few quid more for your tests privately.

A raise of APD likely wouldn’t go down well either...Butts said:

I'm not talking about raising it, but using it to help provide free tests for travellers as a lot of other Countries do.bagand96 said:

The problem is APD is already spent by the Government as it just goes into their coffers. Using APD to pay for Covid Testing would just give them an excuse to raise it.Butts said:
