Rebate delays and 5th Self Employed grant

Hi everyone
My tax rebate was completed by my accountant and submitted months ago. I was given mid July as my rebate payment date by HMRC on my Gateway login.
I still haven't recieved my rebate. I have called several times but when I do manage to talk to someone they just say they are behind due to Covid etc and cannot provide a timeframe.
Has anyone else had this issue this year? I am concerned as I have read in the new it may take 6 months to receive my rebate.
In addition, I logged in to complete the 5th self-employment grant form and it says there is a security issue with my account so I can't claim this either.
I have called HMRC several times but cannot get through and am at work from 7am until 5pm so I can't just sit on the phone all day. Has anyone had this too?
I was only eligable for the 4th and 5th one so am unsure what this means.

best time to phone is as soon as lines open. Start dialling just before so you are at the front of the queue. You may also find you get an answer as some staff may start work early.
Due to absence, self isolation, staff moved to deal with grants etc there is a large backlog of work. Nobody can tell you when your specific case will be dealt with. T
The people on the phones do not work the cases and they can only give you the general timescale they have been advised to tell you.
Not a great state of affairs but then we have not been in normal state of affairs for the last 18 months.

Sounds like it's been flagged and held up for "security" checks.
Normal tax repayments are coming through fine, within a week or two of submission of the SA tax returns.
Security checks involve human checking, so can get stuck due to staff shortages, even in normal times.1 -
In my 5th actual conversation with a human I was told I was being put through an identity check for security. Why the 4 previous workers couldn't tell me this I do not know. They had sent a letter to my old address despite having my new one... Anyway, over 100 printed pieces of paper later (and one deeply annoyed eco consious wife!)...everything was sent in so I am hoping it won't take too long.
I absolutely apprecite the delays and difficulties but do find the whole system highly old fashioned and over complicated. I have been told they are changing the process to quarterly and to a national computer programne which I think is a beneficial and more efficient idea for claimaints and workers alike.
Fingers crossed for everyone going through the process.0 -
