TUI cancelled my holiday for no reason and now it is more expensive for fewer days!

Tui has cancelled my holiday (no reason given) to spain and fully refunded my money. This was not requested by me, we were looking forward to going. Ther resort is still open and they are flying from other airports. I assumed maybe flight was not full so it was cancelled!! It would appear not, I can still book to fly out on same date to same hotel with same package etc.. However, it is only giving an 11 night option which is more expensive than the 14night holiday we had already booked. Seems TUI are trying to make some unfair profit and do not care about their existing customers!

But can you still book the package to fly back on the same original date?
    I suspect not.

It's seems possible that TUI have cancelled your return flight and the nearest they offer is to fly back on a different (earlier) date.

Can you book a 14 night package to the same hotel from a different airport?

If TUI have fully refunded your money, I don't see that they are making an unfair profit from customers.

TUI don't just cancel and refund. There must be something else mentioning the reason for the cancellation in correspondence they sent you.
  • I can still book the package to fly back on the same date. But they are only offering 11night stay instead which is £200 more expensive than the original from the same airport . When contacted it was a non committal answer except that we could book from a different airport if we wanted the 14night stay. In the correspondence they just referred to their covid promise and had to cancel.

if it is only 11 days instead of 14 then either the outbound flight is on a different day or the return flight is on a different day.

If you can fly out on the original date and can fly back on the original date (which was your original 14 day package) I can't see where your 11 days come in.

  • I was answering the comment in reference to both flights are still available as per original booking so no reason for holiday to have been cancelled.

    OK.
So the original outbound flight and original inbound flight are still available.
So it must be the accommodation that is the problem (but I can't understand why there is a problem if you can book a 14 day holiday for the exact same dates from a different airport).

Have you checked TUI website to see if you original holiday is available?

It might be the hotel that has changed their offering and not anything dastardly by TUI.
they are within their rights to cancel.
you can pressure them for an explanation but it might not change anything e.g. hotel policy change

you need to move forward with what’s on offer Now.
    the past has gone
